It’s just come up on Ebay. The now rare but, in my opinion, the greatest record Peggy ever recorded. Nothing he did after this can equal the album he did in 1969 with that wonderful lost jewel, Dana Scott. And no track could possibly compare with Peggy’s version of “Lord Of The Dance”.

All his greatest hits on one album: Where Have All the Flowers gone? Blowin in the Wind, All My Trials, and the phenomenal Kum Ba Yah. This is Peggy at his very best.

The Crown Folk were on course for a superstar career after this. Did you see them on TOTP? Who knows what happened to them? It was tragic, really. Peggy left and his career fell away into obscurity with that other band he joined.

Where did it all go wrong?

PS. As a matter of fact it's the 'ands favourite album. After we've bin on a successful vestin raid from 'andsommers they always call fer it. Dana Scott is their pin-up.... surprizinly Peggy is the pin-up of Lilac Len.... strange that.

 ??? No. I'm serious. I fell in love with Dana Scott. Musically as well as carnally.

I think that Cockers been overcome with his enthusiasm. It wasn't a good idea to 'spread the word' here. He'll have people bidding against him.

I have to warn you Cooker the lads 'ave just discovered they've been playin their 78 disc at 33 rpm.

Worrying - I know most of those songs!  But not with Peggy on bass, I have to admit.  He would probably give them all a certain "kick". :)

wa it released on cd? I would love to hear it. I like most of the songs listed. Especially lord of the dance.

Cocker, as you already have ten copies of this LP, couldn't you let someone else bid on it?   ;)

When I saw Fairport back last year, I had Peggy sign my copy of "The Cocktail Cowboy Goes it Alone."  When I handed it to him, he just laughed and asked if I actually had heard the album.  If I had, I wouldn't have kept it.  I told him I loved the album, and bought it on LP back in the late 80's when I first got into Fairport, and was thrilled when it was finally released on CD.  He said that I was one of the first people that said they really liked it.  So, he'd probably get a kick out of seeing a copy of that old one if someone asked him to sign it. 

Does anyone know what happened to Dana, by the way. I'd love to find her.......

I've got a copy on vinyl.  I got it direct when it was first issued - they all came out signed.  So possibly an unsigned copy is rarer!

(And, sorry, I do think it's .... below par .... as a record)

Cocktail cowboy is one of my fave albums too, the Level pegging track, is magnificent.

I was in a second-hand record store in Cheltenham last weekend.  There was a copy of this LP in there (£15). Imagine my astonishment on reading the sleeve notes to discover that the producer was Ralph Rolls - one of my former RE teachers; he left the school to spend more time producing religious items - mainly for the BBC.  So, if Ralph taught me and produced Peggy, does that get me a Pegg Number? he asked, tenuously...

I imagine that gives you a Pegg #2....
