To give them their due, they played a couple up North this year, and they were so badly attended (bar Kendal) that you've probably had your chance....

I don't know what you call south, but there's none down here.

But you also can't expect, on their first venture north of Birmingham, to cover each small area either. There are just too many musicians to take more than a few chances on making a loss.
It is also as much the responsibility of the potential audience to put themselves out to persuade the band that they ought to do more gigs.

I'm not suggesting a 200 mile round-trip, but a 45-60 minute one ought to be considered....

They have an accomodation requirement of at least 12 rooms....maybe you can see why they can't afford to take a loss....

They played Chesterfield last year for the first time and it was well attended... still hoping for a return...

Does that count as up north??  I guess it does to some.. but not to others..

Don't necessarily blame the band either - a lack of promoters willing to take the plunge is likely to be the problem. Include theatre bookers in that too.

Speaking to Steve (Mr Kite) at David Hughes gig the other week I don't think its just the promoters. He was decrying the availability of suitable venues as a reason for not being able to attract suitable acts. Filling Bury Met when Show of Hands play isnt a problem (now) but FoF might struggle to fill a 300+ venue and smaller ones (<100) would mean they don't break even. There aren't that many in between, apparently, in the Leyland/Chorley/Bury area.

Good point. Nettlebed seats approx 120, and sells out. Hencee two nights. But they'd be looking at at least 100 a night.....

And thats one of the problems Chris. Worden Arts centre holds 100-120 ish I believe but other than the Aggies I've never seen it that full. Good though FoF are I cant see them filling it first time. The next size up is Bury Met at 300ish. Nothing in between.  >:(
