Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: Goaty on October 27, 2005, 06:36:31 PM 'Oh, and may I be the first person to wish you all a Merry Christmas!'
And to you too Sir ! Also, nice looking bass, anyone know the model number ? Did a quick google but no joy... Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: Jim on October 27, 2005, 07:13:16 PM thanks to mr Pegg for the info, pity it couldnt have come earlier
but the main thing is that he gets his life straight and returns happy and healthy its that freebie he got at croppers isnt it(the bass) still dont think they have the class of a fender Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: Andy on October 27, 2005, 07:21:20 PM I sympathise with Peggy and hope he gets well soon. We all face demons in our lives at some point.

Next person says that to me gets a boot to the head. :) Anyway, I have no idea what is going on, but send my very sincere best wishes to Dave Pegg for now and the future...one of the nicest gentlemen I have ever met. Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: rachel on October 28, 2005, 12:09:17 AM Glad to see that things are looking up for the dear chap if he's getting ready for Dylan Project and the Winter tour. Was getting quite worried that he wouldn't return at all with news of the Acoustic trio in the U.S
rachel :) Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: Big Dave on October 28, 2005, 09:15:33 AM Peggy looks in fine form and sounds good, excellent news whiich has cheered me up no end! Thanks Peggy, keep going mate. ;)

Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: Anna on October 28, 2005, 03:15:51 PM It's good to get an update isn't it. :D Thanks chaps, especially Peggy. It can't be easy knowing there are so many people out there wondering what's happening, especially at a time when you really don't want anything to do with anything.
That is one gorgeous bass. He seems to like Crafters. I like the plain wood finish. Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: Taliesin on October 28, 2005, 06:17:51 PM Cheers Peggy, all the best mate. Nice lookin' bass too. Lookin' forward to see you when you're good n ready to :)

"Alcohol kills brain cells, but only the weak ones!" I hope some day I get the opportunity to taste your home brew! Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: Mag T on October 29, 2005, 08:14:34 AM I feel slightly uneasy when reading all comments (or phrasing of some) regarding the missing Peggy. Very sad though it is, brilliant as he is, sincere sympathy to him and his - no one seems to mention the valliant Vo F, stepping into the breach at short notice as he has done, and doing a wonderfull job. I m h o, a hero! :)
Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: Andy on October 29, 2005, 08:19:43 AM Peggy has been a member of FC since 1969 and that generates a lot of loyalty. Vo is, no doubt about it, doing a sterling job. Regard for Peggy does not denigrate Vo.
Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: Jim on October 29, 2005, 08:58:46 AM Spot on, Andy
Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: Pugwash on October 29, 2005, 09:51:20 AM Peggy has been a member of FC since 1969 and that generates a lot of loyalty. Vo is, no doubt about it, doing a sterling job. Regard for Peggy does not denigrate Vo. Tis the truth an that's a fact! Puggzz Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: Mix (Mic) on October 29, 2005, 10:40:21 AM And, this thread was about Peggy's message and the genuine concern for his wellbeing. It wasn't about the band as such.
Mic Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: Mag T on October 29, 2005, 11:04:08 AM Agreed and understood, just wanted to make a point, as have seen no praise for Mr F anywhere :)
Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: Mix (Mic) on October 29, 2005, 11:09:01 AM Agreed and understood, just wanted to make a point, as have seen no praise for Mr F anywhere :) Maybe you should start a thread for that Mag :) I'm sure you would find that there is a lot of admiration for Vo. It's just that this thread was more for good wishes for Peggy, that's all. :) Mic Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: Paul on October 29, 2005, 11:44:44 AM I think the fact that loads of people have wished Peggy health (can I add mine to that), and everybody has said, take time out to recover, is a reflection on how Vo is doing as well. Nobody has said, get back as quick as you can. This obviously means that fairport is in safe hands with Vo as a stand in.
This must certainly help Peggy, as he doesn't need to worry about the band, and can get on with recuperating. Paul Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: Chris on October 29, 2005, 01:33:11 PM Agreed and understood, just wanted to make a point, as have seen no praise for Mr F anywhere :) While adding my voice to those already here, I ought to add that this is perhaps because FC have only played *one* gig in the UK with Vo, and that was up at Bosworth. Plenty was said then about how Vo so ably stood in for Peggy. If you check the reviews of the European dates, Vo gets mentioned in a positive vein. I think you've not been reading all the posts, Mag.... Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: Jim on October 29, 2005, 03:19:49 PM plenty of praise for vo in other threads, do have a good read before you come out swinging and end up on your ar*e
Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: Pugwash on October 29, 2005, 03:37:10 PM I say Mag T take no notice of these old mincers (some of them are a bit set in their ways).
Just let those posts keep comin we need a few fresh views around here otherwise we keep revisitin old ground. Glad to 'ave 'e aboard. Puggzz ;D ;D Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: gower flower (Shirl) on October 29, 2005, 03:46:27 PM Well said Puggs! Welcome Mag T. Please keep posting ;D Gower Flower Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: Delfini (Diane) on October 29, 2005, 11:58:38 PM Seconded - or should that be thirded :-\ - Puggs and GF.
It's good to have the message from Peggy................all the best to him, and see him again when he's ready. He's an important part of a special band. delfini :-* (and Vo is excellent......ok?) Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: gower flower (Shirl) on October 30, 2005, 02:28:02 PM It seems to me that the very fact that Vo has been asked to deputise for Peggy says it all. If he wasn't considered "up to the task" he would not have been invited....... Gower Flower :) Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: mikec on October 31, 2005, 02:19:24 AM First - thanks to Peggy for taking the time to tell us whats happening with him. Can't be easy. respect
As for Vo, well I can't wait to see him later this month in London. :) And isn't this is what Fairport is all about - i.e. change? The Fairport we see today has 1 original member (and he left for a while), life moves on Title: Re: Peggy wants a word.... Post by: JohnT on October 31, 2005, 10:31:32 AM because FC have only played *one* gig in the UK with Vo, and that was up at Bosworth... Then I clearly should have posted a review of the Balloch gig, back in July... :D (http://www.paytontate.com/fc/bal1.jpg) Bloomin' long way to go - but well worth it! OK - I know - Off Topic - Sorry! Interesting point though - spoke to Robbie (who some of you probably know much better than I) - who was also at Balloch - expressed his complete surprise and dismay at Peggy not being there - he had no idea there was a problem. Makes you realise how much you wouldn't know, without the internet! Title: Re: Peggy wants a word....
