Title: Fairport Acoustic - Spring Tour
Post by: steve-n on January 27, 2006, 12:34:43 PM
Tickets now on sale for Huntingdon Hall, Worcester (01905 611427) - 12 May. Acoustic line-up advertised as Simon, Chris, Ric and Peggy - but its quite an old photo!!

Huntingdon Hall has jumped the gun and as I type are being informed of their error. The spring Fairport Acoustic Tour will be the 4-piece line up of Ric, Chris, Gerry and me. Hope this clears things up.

Is there a venue list, Simon?  I cannot see one on the FC site.  I do so hope you're coming somewhere near me.  I really enjoyed the gig at Grays!   :)

Speaking of which, has anyone heard from soundmanjim since that gig?  Or is he still getting over the experience?

PS, nice new avatar there, Simon.

Is there a venue list, Simon?  I cannot see one on the FC site.

The acoustic dates in the past have only been advertised once the Wintour is (nearly) over - to protect possible sales to the Wintour.

The dates as we know them....

20 March - Keswick, Theatre by the Lake
3 May - Sale, Waterside Arts Centre
5 May - Saltaire, Victoria Hall
10 May - Sheffield City Halls (Memorial Hall)
12 May - Worcester, Huntingdon Hall
14 May - Farnsfield Acoustic - Nottingham, Papplewick Village Hall
15 May - Nettlesbed Folk Club
17 May - Maidenhead, Norden Farm Arts Centre
19 May - Moulton Village Festival

Thanks Chris.   :)   Guess I'll have to wait then.

Wouldn't make any difference to me if the venue dates were posted early.  I will go to both (as long as the venue is within one and a half hours drive) because they're quite different.   :)

AS this thread is gathering dates, I guess it's OK to note that Farnsfield Acoustic are advertising the 14 May.

Thanks for the link to Nettlebed. Had a look on there and according to their other things in the area section, FC are playing at Norden Farm Arts Centre in Maidenhead on May 17th. I'm on their mailing list, and it hasn't been advertised yet, so I  shall pencil in the date and wait hopefully in anticipation!

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know which (if any) of these are likely to be standing venues - or have a 'mosh pit' anyway.  I fancy a jigalong...  I'm sure this is nothing like a full list yet, but it's fun to start formulating plans...

The Moulton bigtop, possibly (Simon C?), but otherwise I doubt it. The lads all sit down in this line-up, so it'd be odd if the audience stood....

The venue is different though..  Papplewick Village Hall near Nottingham...  see website below or IM me for details and tickets.

Hope to see lots of you there.. as well as the Sheffield gig!!

20th March?  A pre-acoustic tour warmup gig?  Cor!  :)

Most of the tour seems to co-incide with my main holiday this year.  But I'll see if I can roll along to one of the later gigs...

When are the dates officially out?
I booked Sheffild tickets for my offspring and was mildly alarmed to see how fast they were selling out. I've been googling like mad to check if anything has been announced for venues in this area but with no luck.
If there is a sussex gig I just hope it's not sold out before I get to hear of it!

Is Peggy on the US Gov't's "No-Fly" list?

He is a bit swarthy, for a Brit...

Title: Re: Fairport Acoustic - Spring Tour
Post by: Cocker Freeman on March 11, 2006, 12:27:58 AM
Is that what they call it? A "No-Fly" list? Hyphenated? Is that the US government's way of saying someone is not allowed entry into the United States? No-Fly?

Give me strength.

The evidence says that Peggy is doing Cropredy and the winter tour. For any more information I'd expect you'd have to ask him.

The following from P.J. Wright's web site might help to explain it:

"As an aside, being on tour together has given Peggy and me a chance to start assembling material for the duo gigs we will be doing in June and July of this year. The show will be called 'A Night Off With Peggy & PJ', a title which I think gives you a clue to the nature of the entertainment"

Something different to look forward to.

You'll have to try a bit harder to understand the ambience here, obviously. Take a look around, especially to the introduction to the board and then perhaps you'll understand that your persistent repetition of a question is considered just plain rude, here.  >:(

I'm a little disappointed that they're not playing the Birchmere when they play the DC area, only because it's a really fantastic venue.  However, they're playing two places an hour from DC (Rockville and Sykesville), so I think I can live without seeing them at the Birchmere  ;)   And the place they're playing in Rockville is supposed to be great.  I missed them last summer, so I'm really looking forward to this summer.  Sure, I'd love to see them with Peggy, but, it's all good.

This was posted to the Fairport email list this morning - I believe you are allowed to quote a few lines for 'review' purposes, without infringing copyright....

"couple of fluffed moments but nothing worth laboring on, a setlist comprising a couple of covers and a very good selection from the entire repertoire"

But he did post a few photos here (http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/gridding/my_photos)
