Hi Sooz

Yes you certainly can, providing they are well behaved, kept on a lead at all times and that you clean up after them

My dogs have been going there for years.........

There is usually the odd bowl of water for them outside some stalls as well, but it is best to go prepared

Jude :D

Not only dogs.........there were a couple of small goats in the crowd close to us last year.  :)

I'm certain I saw a large (ten foot plus) python on a blanket bar-side a few years back. Not far from where the beautiful Pyrranieans (spelling?? ed.) have their regular camp. And I usually take my dogs for at least one day - although miserably sadly Ralph, our senior dog, died in November....

One year I camped near a couple who had brought their pet ferrets with them.

Judging by the varied wildlife listed above I assume there is no problem in bringing any type of pet to Cropredy.  Ma and I were wondering whether to bring the budgie.  I already bring a bear (rather more civilised than the family budgie it has to be said).

Mind you, the prospect of coming face-to-face with a python does NOT appeal to me  :o :o *shudders*.  Please warn me if any unconventional animals are coming along or you'll hear the screams of terror all across Oxfordshire.

Sorry to hear about the demise of Ralph Simon:(

Jackdaw

We took our recalcitrant and ancient mustelid with us last year, as he'd had a funny slug just before Croppers and we wanted to keep a close eye on him.  Didn't take him onto the main site itself but he spent most of his time on his back with his legs in the air in his cage in the van, improving the atmosphere within no end!  He enjoyed coming out for a snuffle around on the few occasions that the lazy old git was awake; being a Portland woozle, he hadn't met cowpats before...... ;D

On the subject of dogs at the festival, much as I love our Border Binliner (Tam Lin) I'd rather he went to his 'auntie and uncle' for that weekend.  Every year I have an argument with myself about taking him and yet never regret leaving him at his country retreat. We took our previous collie once, and I was constantly worried about people treading on him esp in the dark.  I guess it's also like having the responsibility of taking a sprog in that you can't completely let your hair down if there's a small creature in your care, and it'll be a nightmare if it's blinkin' hot like it was a year or two back.  There's only one way you're gonna find out, so give it a go, and good luck!  And don't forget to take millions of poo bags.......

Simon, sorry about Ralph.
Is he the one you used to bring in our shop in Chippy, under where you are now?
He was a charecter, and good looking.
Three woofs for ralph, upset me has that, they become one of the family.
Our two dogs love Fairport week, lots of scraps to eat.
Dont know if the rabbits are too happy, you would be amazed how many live there.
Loads of moles as well, down by the river, the sheep are in the camp sites at the moment, giving birth to lots of lambs.
No cattle anymore, the courage estate has recently been sold, so a few changes.
Kevin

You didn't think you'd escape without a 'Festival Folk' comment did you?

Dogs? see page 46. Unfortunately I missed Fred's lovely dog (page 31), but he & his faithful companion are regulars too!

cheers
Joss

Much as I love my border collie cross labrador; Cropredy is a time for me to be dog-responsible free, lie in the sun with the odd bottle of wine/pint of Wadsworths or a dozen, listen to good and interesting music, preferably both together, and not worry about having poo bags, opening tins of his food, having to get the evening walk in before it is too late at night, etc. etc. No, he can stay at home with the heavy metal and soul music loving 2 kids, (those two musical tastes in their respective orders), neither involves folk/rock music,so for me it is a dog and kids free weekend! But that's not to disapprove of others bringing their dogs. Jude might remember having a short conversation with me about her dogs in the crowd last year.

In all fairness, I think we should consider the dog's feelings here..........

...... how do dogs feel about teenagers going to Cropredy (they are even more smelly, after all)  ;D

I suspect it depends on how much leftover food the teenagers are willing to let be snaffled in passing by undernourished dogs........
