Amazing. The cover looks to be the 'family tree' which accompanied the History of Fairport album years ago.

Some of the linked 'family members' look a bit loose. Spirogyra? I seem to recall theirs was a techno instrumental in the 70's but I stand to be corrected. Others would seem to be rarities. Funny no-one has heard about this as a forthcoming issue.

Hopefully SImon will see this in case it is bootleg material. If not, looks worth getting.

musikfolk have it listed as coming soon
they are dearer but you could die waiting for a cd from 101
ive found them to be hopelessly slow
musikfolk will get it to you by return of post
its pukka though,ie not a boot

Sorry re Spirogyra, I was confusing them with another oddly named group. What the connection is with FC, I don't know.

Like you, JIm, I will wait for Musikfolk. Support small businesses, I say :)

Aye, it's a pukka one as Jim says - 101 wouldn't sell a boot.

It's basically another in the long line of Castle/Sanctuary/HTD/Talking Elephant material compilations, but with quite an interesting concept, so it may be worth getting. None of the tracks'll be rare as in previously unreleased, the various Albion Band rare looking tracks are from the Guv'nor series for instance. I think the tracks are all either Fairport side projects/offshoots, or session appearances.

Jim's right about the speed of 101's service as well. I generally tend to use them when I want something cheap, but aren't fussed if it takes a month to arrive.

Interesting.  Thanks for the info so far guys (keep it coming!).  I'll look out for it on Musikfolk then.  Just discovered 101 via Nectar points, and was browsing around.  Will see how long the one I have ordered from them takes...  They've got Gottle o' Geer for about 4 quid at the minute too...  Plus a pound for postage, which by the sound of it is by Shanks' pony... ::)

This sounds like a good "gateway" into a lot of other people though, that I might hesitate to buy a whole CD of, or would break the bank if I tried to buy them all...

Bear in mind that the release date is 10 April....

It is an honest to goodness release. It was called Loose Chippings From The Fairport Family Tree and it is tracks by people who were in the band at one stage and is what they did before or after or otherwise in between.

It is based on Pete Frame's Fairport Family Tree and it has two of my tracks from Trader Horne on it!

Yes it is another compilation but looked at from a slightly different angle. I have known about it for a while because I was asked to check what was said about me in the sleeve notes :D 8)

It's on my birthday list then!  :D

Having looked at the list of people and bands on it (very quickly), it'll probably broaden my horizons no end!

A copy arrived this morning from Sanctuary (I knew there had to be some advantage etc etc. ;D)

And it is full of stuff I haven't heard before, (plus some I have)

It is certainly a different sort of compilation and I like it

I was also told about this today

Another compilation...... (I don't mind, the more the merrier :D)

Interesting selection on that album, looking at the link, love the variant on the old History of album. (which really could do with being a double CD & updating anyhow)
