whilst in glasto second hand record shop i found a 'history of fairport' double vinyl with a 'book' in the middle, and a family tree (with our jude on the first branch)and WENT TO 1972 and is £6.99 a good or bad price as it was not in good nick? also saw a 2x2cd set of the unofficial history, at £39.99. bargain or bogey? didnt buy each, always scared of being ripped off.......... all info gratefully received. abby {:-) Title: Re: a history of fairport convention Post by: Keith on April 03, 2006, 07:47:54 AM "History..." Is a perfect introduction to the early years (all Joe Boyd I think) although I don't remember anything from the first album on there. It's certainly the one Fairport CD to choose if you could only choose one.

Title: Re: a history of fairport convention Post by: jude on April 03, 2006, 09:04:58 AM The first album was on Polydor, so no tracks from it went onto the'History of' as it was an Island compilation. Later on Island bought up/merged/married/? with Polydor so they could use tracks from the first album as well

It was also released on CD but beware that the CD version is missing two tracks. Of course now it's on the remastered Full House.
