Title: Cropredy T-shirts
Post by: Billy the fish (Rob) on June 09, 2006, 10:27:01 AM
I was sorting out a load of clothes the other day and found a couple of old Cropredy T shirts from as far back as 1985.

Just wondered; What are people's favourite cropredy t shirt?

I think mine is the 2001 with the panorama of the concert field on the front.

The Celtic knot one is probably the best design IMHO, my only Cropredy T shirt is from 1989 but the bugger doesn't fit. Billy is that Rothwell between Wakey & Leeds?

The 93 one with the big circle with loads of different things in it! I didn't like the 2001 very much...thought it was a bit boring  :-[

Not only is the celtic knot my favourite design, it is also in perfect condition, despite the amount that I wear it.

Unlike last years psychadelic one, where already half the design has come off.

Quite liked the psychedelic one, although i have the same print problem.

The 93 shirt i liked, i'm afraid i had to chuck it away it had loads of holes in it, probably for the best as it was in that 'orrible orange colour.

1992 just pushes the Celtic Knot into second place. However, my 1989 collarless sweatshirt (see avatar) is so special it only comes out once a year in August.

I used to be indecisive, now I am not sure ;D ;D

I had the same problem, mentioned it on here in passing and <simon> contacted me and sent me a new one! ;D

A friend of mine went to Cropredy one year and all they brought me was an XXXL t-shirt with a Celtic Knot design in the colour of  ..... ahem .... dusky pink.  ::)

I've never been able to wear it without getting funny looks, so it's now my nightshirt.  [;-)

I have a soft spot for the African-y one, can't remember the year as it's so faded... lots of little jokes hiding amongst the pattern: pints and chips and things. Also the eye with the harlequin (94?/5?) But the one I actually wear all the time is the Waddsworths '6X Kitten' - it's the only one small enough!

Reckon it could have been 96 - the only one I have no longer got since 91.  Thats between Harlequin and "Who Knows"

I lost mine :'( - was certainly one of my faves.  94 and 5 are very faded.  92 and 3 less so, but falling to bits.  Like 2001 too.

I've still got one, white with the crest on the front & 'In Real Time' (in the Fairport font) on the back. Must have been the 1988 tour.

I've got an '84 in reasonable nick. This ancient relic only appears once a year at cropredy. I'm already planning to frame it once it looks ready to disintergrate. You're welcome to take photos. there's a lass who regularly shows up in an '83 t shirt (a weekend in the country) shouldn't be difficult to spot.

Why is it that Steeleye Span don't seem to have much merchandise? I'd kill for a skinny fit t-shirt (or any t-shirt come to think of it) that has the swooshing SS logo on it. I'm sometimes tempted to make my own one, but think that if any band deserve money made from over-priced merchandise, it's Steeleye. Is Cropredy likely to yield any band specific clothing?

Hi Jess

There is a good chance that some merch will be available, whether it will include t shirts and the like i don't know for sure, but something should crop up.

Last year's tee shirt is the first one I've bought - I wear it when I feel my day needs brightening up!

Worn it at work a few times- and found a few closet Fairport/Cropredy fans among the people there.

Hi Ann

Welcome to the board

Its amazing how many people say  "Fairport Convention, i've heard of them, i liked that song they did called "perfect"".

But there is a fair few of us about who like FC.

See you in August.  Look out for People wearing Fezzes and Tiaras and come and say hello.

Hi and welcome, Ann.  I wish I was brave enough to wear any of my (growing) collection of FC t-shirts to work...  Having spent most of my life being castigated in one way or another for my "taste" in music I just don't go there any more...  Must get myself something a little more subtle at Croppers.

Having said that, I hope this years' design is a bright and eye-catching as last years (that'll set the cat amongst the pigeons), I do like that t-shirt and I don't seem to have had the print peeling off troubles that others have reported.  Mine's still in fine fettle.

Sod it.  I'm off to the Fairport merch site to see what I can acquire.  Retail therapy here I come... :)

:( Just looked at the merch and the polo shirt only comes in XL.  I know I'm rapidly expanding these days, but don't quite qualify for an XL yet.  Just have to wait for Croppers I suppose.

... because you will qualify for XL after three days of good living at Cropredy? (Runs for cover)

Staying on topic. I too like last year's bright shirt.

That was certainly NOT to my cup of tea!

Like music, we all have differing tastes, I reckon....

2004 - the stained glass window one.  We've only been going to Cropredy since 2000 so only a few to choose from.  No peeling problems with last year's design.
