Title: Fairport Photo's - some help required.
Post by: davidmjs on August 31, 2006, 06:46:27 PM
I was lucky enough to buy a load of Fairport (and guests) photographs from the mid 80s pretty (and surprisingly) dirt cheap on ebay this week (well, actually 4 out of 8 or 9 lots but including the biggest bunch).

According to the seller, they came from a crew member who worked with the band.  The seller didn't have their name or contact details.

Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone on here might know who took the photos and is the copyright holder....as I'd like to get in touch with them.

Any help much appreciated.

David

It's possible that they are Ian Burgess' photos.. he of Friends of Fairport.

I've bought photos from Ian in the past.. they look similar.

They're a bit early for Ian, Amethyst, I think he always says he didn't start "properly" until the late 80s, perhaps 88/89. The posed/publicity ones look like John Woodward's, at least some of the live are Garry Hunter's, and there's even some of Doug Lake's from the Gladys sessions. Looks to me like they may well be from Peggy's Woodworm clear-out rather than from a photographer's/crew member's collection.
