Title: Sandy Denny, born 6.1.1947 Post by: Philip W on January 06, 2007, 01:12:00 PM Perhaps pause for a moment to reflect that today would have been Sandy's 60th birthday... I for one - and I'm sure I'm not alone - find it hard to imagine Fairport would ever have climbed as high without her contribution as vocalist and writer.

I hope Sandy is celebrating in style... Her daughter Georgia & her grand-daughters Aeriel & Jahmira certainly did! John Penhallow (who will be recognisable to some here) threw a lunch party at his home in OZ, along with a presentation of some white-label pressings that he won in an RT auction held to raise funds for Hurricane Katrina victims, as well as the Sandy LP box set that Georgia didn't own, to Georgia. Along for the ride was DM who, as I mentioned in another thread elsewhere, is in OZ with Rosanne Cash, and one or two others, who may or may not be members here. You need to have a Yahoo password to access these, but John has posted some photos of the presentation here (http://launch.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/SandyDennyList/photos/browse/878b) |
