Good song. Put Sandy on the international scene with covers by Judy Collins, etc.
But not my favorite Sandy track, let alone overall Folk track.

Personally I don't think it's a Folk track at all...and unlike MotL or Matty Groves it's one of those songs which you can't get quite 'involved' in enough to really enjoy anybody other than Sandy sing it live....

But it's a great song and I'm glad Sandy and the band have been recognised again.

Really? I love Simon's version.

I think the most diplomatic response I can give to this is repeat the fact that I think it's a great song.....

My favourite song of all time. Gorgeous arrangement and playing, and wonderful lyrics.

It's a truly great song - one of the best of all time.  But folk?  No, I wouldn't say so.

But for sure it's a song that deserves to be honoured.  It's haunted me since I was about 10 years old when I heard it on the radio.  (It only took me another 18 years to get Unhalfbricking!)

A fine speech from Simon, I thought, accepting the award on Sandy's behalf. Well-chosen words, hit just the right note. What a pity they wheeled on former comedian and full-time lummox Bill Oddie to introduce it.
