ive said it before and i'll say it again, damn poor show with these 3 if all they can come up with is just the one extra track
especially since bonny and tipplers were out on a mid price twofer previously

I'll take them in any condition as my twofer has disintegrated, a victim of the PDO pressing farce of the 90s. Several of the Island albums by Fairport and RT are showing signs of going the same way and my treasured copy of Mother Nture's Kitchen by the Kevin McDermott Orchestra is now unplayable. I'm faced with buying them all a second time, except for the McDermott which  is now very hard to find.  :'(

Like any data, I'd advise backing up your CD's to disk. FLAC or Vogg Orbis are both lossless formats.

Thanks. Fortunately I managed to do that with most of the PDO stuff when I first hears about the teabagging problem. I caught the McDermott too late though. Fortunately I have Mp3s of all of the Fairport & RT stuff on two different drives but I have thousands of CDs so backing everything up is a challenge!

Don't quite understand this...a CD is surely AS stable, and arguably more so, a medium for storing data than a hard disk.  I've known numerous people who have lost everything from a hard disk...the self-destructing CD is a fairly uncommon beast...(not unknown but uncommon).  Personally the only back up of a CD I'd ever do is copying it to another CD.  Which is what (to a DVD) I do with my mp3 and FLAC files....

If you invest in Andy's case 2 years, and in mine 6 months in ripping your CD collection, t'would be tempting fate not to have mirrored drives.

My understanding is that CD or DVD is the most stable medium for back up. The problem is one of volume. Duplicate hard drives are more appealing when you have as much stuff as I do. The chances of them both failing simultaneously are minimal and as a victim of self destructing CDs, my confidence in them is perhaps not as great as some. Incidentally if you have any CDs released on Island or Polygram in the late 80s or early 90s that you have not played for a while, take a look at them. If they were pressed by PDO (you can check by looking at the playing side. PDO will be written just next to the hole), back them up asap. If they appear to be turning brown at the edges or even more substantially you may already have a problem. I have quite a number from this manufacturer that have suffered this way.

Depends who it was made by...

GubGub is referring to a problem with the manufacture of some CDs, where disks were not correctly sealed. The result was that ink from the sleaves would eat into the disk, turning it brown and ultimately corrupting its contents.

http://members.cox.net/surround/uhjdisc/bronzing.htm gives an outline of the problem.

There was a period where PDO would reissue a replacement for a bronzed CD free of charge, though that offer was set to finish in Nov 2006.

I suspect that Island had to lease the two Vertigo albums and didn't have access to the session tapes for any possible extra tracks.

im just listening to tipplers tales and comparing it to the old twofer, the new one is a bit louder but that apart i cant hear much difference

Crikey!I was fortunate to receive the reissue of A Bonny Bunch Of Roses for my 40th today.What a superb album! I thought the RT version on the Full House reissue would take some beating but the Swarb tour de force title track on this is even better! On a totally unrelated point,The Derbyshire Times published today an excellent review of the Winding Wheel show of a few weeks ago.Dunno how to get it up here but I'll gladly send a scan of it to anyone who wants it if you PM me.
