Title: 'ats Post by: Jim G on March 19, 2007, 02:46:35 PM Dear fellow Talk-Awhilers.
I am certain that everyone would agree that there is not enough discussion on the subject of hats on this forum. So I am hoping this thread will rectify this by stimulating debate and discussion around the subject. After all if Tom Jones can do it with “You can leave your hat on” Steeleye Span with “All around my hat” and Kevin Ayres – “The Hat song” I am sure that it’s about time Fairport produced a decent hat titled song. On the subject of wearing hats do you think hat wearing increases musical proficiency – or is it just a cover up for hair loss? Current and former members of the group have worn various head gear when performing but is there anyone who has never worn a hat on stage – can’t remember either Simon or Chris with one. Bruce also wearing blue cap of a nautical nature...
Title: Re: 'ats Post by: David W on March 19, 2007, 02:52:25 PM Simon did favour the baseball cap look some years ago.
As to the question about hats impact I am a keen hat wearer, still have a full head of hair and am one of the worst guitarists ever to have our pick to string. Possibly I am the exception that proves the rules. Jackdaw Title: Re: 'ats Post by: RichardH on March 19, 2007, 02:58:10 PM hatty groves...

Mental images of tableaux of Derek Guyler (as Lord Arnold) smiting Hatty Jaques (his wife) with a long, beaten sword as she kneels in front of a prostrate Eric Sykes ('Atty Groves) - all three dressed in BBC comedy departments best middle-ages costumes (actually a mixture of civil-war armour and 17thC fop). :-X Title: Re: 'ats Post by: David W on March 19, 2007, 03:24:45 PM hatty groves... Title: Re: 'ats Post by: Sir Robert Peel on March 19, 2007, 11:28:25 PM Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. ::)
We're not onto the subject of shoes again, are we? So soon? You'll never get Peel in a pair of spats as long as there's a hole in ..er.. his pocket. Spats indeed! Do me a favour. ::) And what on earth have spats got to do with Fairport Convention, tell me? On second thoughts, don't. Just don't. Are they wearing them, off camera, on the cover of Send Us a Cajun? I might have guessed they'd pull a stunt like that. Spats, you say? Dear oh dear, oh dear, oh dear...... :( Title: Re: 'ats Post by: Ellie on March 23, 2007, 03:42:50 PM Do you know what Bill Bailey says about his hat?
'All around my hat I shall wear the tiny mammal Then I shall take it and place it in a vice...' Title: Re: 'ats Post by: Edthefolkie on April 01, 2007, 09:02:08 PM Hatrack Caper.....

Title: Re: 'ats Post by: PLW (Peter) on April 01, 2007, 11:23:47 PM In 1970, when Full House came out, my mates and I equipped ourselves with what we described as a "Pegg Hat" and "Mattacks Glasses". How sad. Have a look at the inside of your old LP cover if you don't know what I'm on about.
