(Feb 4 89) I've been listening to a lot of the Trevor led Cropredy stuff recently (82 and so on) - the extra dimension and material he adds to the sound is sadly missed. A major talent. Many thanks to Jerry for his perseverance on this project over the years. In advance, I think my favorite track of this set is "Gypsy Davey". Beyond the lyrics, it's just such a great work melodically and rhythmically, as Fotheringay performed it. But perhaps, upon the official release, I'll be surprised by other tracks in the set. (I've had the opportunity to hear many of these tracks from "unofficial" sources, but even for those I've heard, I look forward to improved audio quality on the new release. Funny thing, the time perspective: 1970, when Fotheringay's first release came forth, feels to me in some ways like only yesterday. But IN 1970, imagining back to 37 years before THAT seemed like eons in the past. Cheers /// Tom*** |
