Title: Current Line Up Changes - Who would you want?
Post by: Ollie on April 30, 2007, 05:39:36 PM
No, don't worry, their not changing!! I was just wondering, if any of them did decide to leave, who would you want to replace them? For a start, if (God forbid) Simon left, it would be quite nice to see PJ Wright take his place.

I would love to see Al Stewart play with FC

I gather he is still good friends with Iain Mathews

I presume this would bar the inclusion of anyone who has alreadybeen in the group, as those would certainly be my first choices, and with battle helmet completely secured on my head, I nominate June Tabor

Well, Peggy is probably the least tied to the band now, despite his long history. Wonder if TTL Helen would be interested  :)

Nice. But isn't Bob the same age as Simon? I think for longevity's sake we need to consider youth, or those who plan to go on for many years, regardless of age. I can't see many of the current line-up quitting for at least 5 years.

No place for Roberto Duran?  I've always said Fairport would benefit  from the Uilleann pipes, he'd bring his own chair and everything

Slightly off topic, but if Ric ever left, do you think that they would carry on doing his instrumentals?

Seems unlikely. Maart's material has not been much in evidence since his departure and even Swarb's instrumentals get limited outings with the obvious exception of the medley that concludes Matty Groves.
