Title: Pass of arms
Post by: Ian_ on June 26, 2007, 04:19:37 PM

Sorry if this has been dealt with before (couldn't find any mention in the search engine), but I wondered if anyone had seen the film which featured these Sandy Denny performances, how the music was used, and whether copies of the film were available in any format?

Nor me, but a quick ref to No More Sad Refrains page 153 reveals : a 10 minute suite for a short TV film entitled PoArms. She had to 'race round various hammy studios, make up tunes to fit words herself but ended up at Island'.

Deliberate precis  so as not to infringe copyright or annoy the author (see thread re NMSRefrains)

Here in Silence is included in the 'A Boxful of Treasures' box set.  Quite listenable.  I'd never heard of the film till I got the box set, so can't answer the other questions.

The film is listed in the BFi as being a film about Two knights fighting to the death in a battle in a forest. Peter Elford was the director and him and the script writer wrote the songs sandy sings. It was a short film, around 1/2 an hour, and won a prize at the Cork Film Festival. There is one copy of the film in the archive and it has never been released  on video or DVD.
Anyone ever seen the other film that she did music for Swedish Fly Girls?

That track and one other are on the expanded edition of Sandy.

Thanks for your help; maybe it'll turn up on the BFI's Mediatheque at some point in the future...
