Title: Franklin's Lost Expedition.
Post by: Mix (Mic) on June 26, 2007, 04:24:50 PM
For those who missed it first time around (I seem to remember a few saying they had), and it's worth a second view too, Franklin's Lost expedition is being repeated tonight on Ch 5 at 8.00pm.

But Chris would write about the one with the happier ending wouldn't he  :) :)
Still, remembering The Game Pieces (another favourite) he can do darker can't he  ::)

Do you know the late Stan Rogers' wonderful song Northwest Passage about a modern Canadian's view of Franklin's expedition?  Covered by Show of Hands amongst others, but Stan's original version remains the best.

No, I don't know that one David. If I've heard SoH do it, then it's lost in the mush I call a memory. I'll look out for it though, thanks  :)

Agreed and he also sang "Mary Ellen Carter" which is one of my faves!

It's on Cold Frontier, Mic, with Phil singing lead.  Apparently the boys picked up on the song over here and when they played it at a festival in Canada it brought the house down.  But it's a great song, regardless.

It also turns up in the last episode of Due South  Not sure if it is the Stan Rogers version - can't immediately find the CD.
