Title: RT concert
Post by: RichardH on July 04, 2007, 09:39:57 PM
Go to the RT Beesweb site and the wonders of broadband will deliver you with a couple of clicks to over two hours worth of a recent Washington DC concert broadcast.

It's pretty breathtaking and I've just been skimming it. One of the highlights is Al Bowlly, another one is Pete Zorn proving once and for all that Bad Monkey and Tear Stained Letter are sisters under the skin.

Be interested in other views.

This was mentioned in another thread and I downloaded it.
It was kind of lenghty so I edited it and split it into tracks, raising the volume on RT's between-song patter in the process. If anyone is interested in it in this format, let me know and I will upload it to savefile

Ollie, I'm not clear - can you receive IMs? Or is the restriction on both sending and receiving?

I can recive but not send, so if you sent me one, I couldn't reply. It's just a lot easier to e-mail me.  :)

I get them sent to my e-mail. I know this is completely off-topic, and there are other places this could go, but could I just say one thing. Isn't it more dangerous from a child pretection point of view, for under 18's to give out their e-mail addresses, than to be conatcted through IM, which, I'm sure, could be moderated if need be...

Sorry, back OT, still not sure whether to go and see RTB at Cambridge in October...

If you have the opportunity, take it!  :)

Yeah, it's just I'm seeing him at Cropredy, so I don't know whether my parents will want to fork out another £60 for the three of us to go, when we have just seen him...

The reason is liability. Any issues with your email go to your ISP. Issues with the board's IM system go to Colin. It is for Colin's legal safety that IMs are not offered to under 18s. Sorry!

The safest approach would be to not allow under 18s onto the board at all. But that would be too draconian we think  :-\

Oh, and IMs can't be moderated (fortunately or unfortunately depending on your point of view). The board software is constructed in such a way that only the sender and recipient can read an IM.

Cheers

Sorry if this is out of place, and I know it's completely off-topic - but isn't it an awful reflection of our society that the kids (sorry Ollie and Olly) have to be the ones that understand?

I've just been at a folk night (morris dancing in the street - and the pubs - and sessions etc) down in the old town part of St Albans (St Michael's if anyone knows the area) and it was lovely to instantaneously see the kids running around with no visible parental support again.  If only...

Further discussion in the Arms (sorry Ollie and Ollly) if needs be.  Arse!

Funny you saying that about Tear Stained Letter and Bad Monkey. My band have been doing TSL for 21 years (give the sax player a chance to go mental) and when I first heard BM I thought finally fopund a replecement.

Bad Monkee is definately TSL II. It's just not as good a song. That's one of the problems I had with Sweet Warrior overall, a lot of the songs are just not up to snuff. Take Care The Road You Choose sounds to me like Jennie from Daring Adventures, just not as good.
