Title: Irreverent(d) thought... Post by: Anna on August 03, 2007, 04:44:54 PM Just been browsing the Biographies on the FC site (it's that quiet at work and I'm not complaining)...
Clicked on the Chris Leslie biog, and **What??** :o Doesn't that photo look like he's wearing a dog-collar? :o The Reverend Chris Leslie?!! Has a good ring to it I think, but maybe not, eh? http://www.fairportconvention.com/chris_leslie_biography.php See what I mean? Title: Re: Irreverent(d) thought... Post by: PaulT on August 03, 2007, 04:54:21 PM Yep, hints of the "trendy vicar" look there ;D
I remember some young clergymen trying to affect that look back in the 70s - and failing miserably! They were often average plank-spankers as well (Kum-By-Ah etc). Chris, however, gets the look without trying and as any fule kno can play virtually anything you can pluck, bow or even blow. Roll on next Thursday............ Title: Re: Irreverent(d) thought... Title: Re: Irreverent(d) thought... Post by: PLW (Peter) on August 03, 2007, 05:57:25 PM He he :D One slight snag tho, he's Buddhist! ;D The Church of England can absorb that, no problem. Title: Re: Irreverent(d) thought... Post by: Cocker Freeman on August 03, 2007, 05:59:34 PM That's right. He's viscious at table tennis as well.
Title: Re: Irreverent(d) thought... Post by: Pugwash on August 03, 2007, 07:53:54 PM I'm not surprised he was chucked out of bein a vicar after seein those pictures of him givin that David Hughes a good thrashing in the dressin room at Christmas.
Behaviour management seems to be called for... ;D Title: Re: Irreverent(d) thought... Post by: Cocker Freeman on August 03, 2007, 07:55:34 PM Come on, Puggs. In the cut and thrust of Church of England matters, someone's bound to get punched occasionally.
Title: Re: Irreverent(d) thought... Post by: Pugwash on August 03, 2007, 08:01:41 PM Well true, but if only they'd make up their minds.
Not so long ago a friend got ordinaried or summat an that time they wouldn't let me out until I'd hugged someone in fact I think I had to hug a whole crew of people. Didn't know 'em from Adam. Just becomin so extreme. >:( I reckon that Chris Leslie is a bit of a hugger. Title: Re: Irreverent(d) thought... Title: Re: Irreverent(d) thought... Post by: GubGub (Al) on August 04, 2007, 01:44:35 PM This hugging business has got to stop. Quite right! We're English for God's sake! Well, some of us. ;D I'm not. But I'm not much of a hugger anyway. More of a groper!! ;D I'm more worried reading that Chris's brother is that pervy, tall Scottish bloke off morning telly, John Leslie. The one that used to go out with Catherine Zeta Jones and that Abbie Titimus :o Well I never ??? Title: Re: Irreverent(d) thought... Post by: Andy on August 04, 2007, 05:44:22 PM Just in case you wondered, I'm not related to that John Leslie either.
Title: Re: Irreverent(d) thought... Post by: Cocker Freeman on August 04, 2007, 09:35:03 PM Tell me if I'm wrong but wasn't that John Leslie cleared of all charges?
Title: Re: Irreverent(d) thought... Post by: Sir Robert Peel on August 04, 2007, 09:52:54 PM He was.
Is it true that Chris Leslie is married or otherwise related to our own Andy (not Vile, in the least) Leslie? Title: Re: Irreverent(d) thought... Post by: Jim on August 04, 2007, 10:19:49 PM so he claims, the physical resemblance is uncanny
Title: Re: Irreverent(d) thought... Post by: Ancient Muse (Andy) on August 06, 2007, 06:14:24 AM Tell me if I'm wrong but wasn't that John Leslie cleared of all charges? Yes, he was, but sadly mud sticks ... character assassination by the media is alive and well in the UK and as long as we have people who say "there's no smoke without fire" it will go on. |
