Title: Rock'n'Reel Magazine (Nov/Dec 2007)
Post by: jamesiegang on October 23, 2007, 08:13:10 PM
Includes article by Ken Hunt on Fairport's 40 years of Folk-Rock.
5-star review of L&L deluxe edition, 4-star review of Peggy's Box set,& a 3-star one of Sandy at the BBC (all by Dai Jeffries)
Plus a free Voiceprint CD (mainly prog not folk).
Really enjoy this mag since it was 'rejigged' ...this is the 6th issue of Volume 2.

Sent Vol2 Issue 1 back in March under the offer.
Picked up the next 2 issues at Borders.
Missed the next 2 so bought them off the excellent website and also a subscription (3 free CDs included.. Fairport track..Armstrong's Almain)
On the site at present there is a synopsis of Vol2 Issue 5 including item on Peggy & PJ Wright.(www.rock-n-reel.co.uk)

Yes, it is an impressive magazine. And is that our own Chris Bates nestling among the photographic credits? Seduced by the mag's glossy appearance, I was a bit surprised when I offered them something to learn that they don't pay contributors (other than the author of the cover feature). Heigh-ho. "No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money" - clearly Dr Johnson wasn't talking about music journalism.

It's still early in their resurrection - I'm sure that policy will be reviewed when they're more financially secure.

Actually there are 4 CDs...and one is a double.
The cover-mounted free CD from Voiceprint is in the 'radio-style' format i.e. intros between tracks.
The Fairport track is written by Ric Sanders and from a Terra Nova compilation 'Master Craftsmen'
