Post by: gower flower (Shirl) on October 27, 2007, 09:11:01 PM
Any news of the forthcoming winter tour? Or have I missed something?  :P

I suspect the winter newsletter is currently in production....shouldn't be long now - in fact, dates are likely to be just going or already on sale in most venues.

Just had a look on the St Albans Arena website and nothing showing there yet - assuming FC are playing this year. Mind you they still have Bellowhead advertised in the "New" section - from 22nd September!

As if I would!  I only drink whisky medicinally and the only reason I was slightly wobbly at festies this year was 'cos I have this dodgy knee see...

9th of Feb looks interesting - now, where did they get that idea from?!

A bit thin for the North of England, I'd say, but a trip to Inverness looks nice...or it will do if I get another job by then...made redundant yesterday...  :'(  Anyway...something to look forward to  :)

Hooray - can now start planning for life after Humbug. It will be St Albans for us so I hope the rehearsals have gone well ;)

I see they have allowed 2 days to get back from Inverness - probably wise at that time of year.

And no trip to the Island of Ireland yet again  :(

They played belfast last in 1995/6 I think .. the year after I was married should ask missus to confirm

Relatively large venue Place was bunged with people outside wanting to get in well after doors closed.

I think I remember Peggy saying they were supposed to be on a local chat show but had been bumped
for Kylie and I think that left a bad taste in the mouth

I go over the other way for cropredy evry year so I think this teaches me all about inrequited love

I was wondering what else might be planned as it's an extra day away without a gig to pay for it....I guess the lads night fly back the next day? Otherwise just two other days off, both close to home. Is one of those the date for the Folk Awads?

Only just seen the full list today, pleased with the Pontardawe, Swansea gig  - just 15 miles from us.

An earlier post mentions a gap after Inverness, there don't seem to be any gaps now  - it looks to me like 30 consecutive nights all over the uk................I think they are forgetting that some of them are knockin' on a bit!!

Cleethorpes Pier in February. Awesome.

Hey Miguel! You could go by train  ;D

We've done that train journey last May; Barton through Grimsby to Cleethorpes. It was blowing a gale and raining horizontally. We stayed less than an hour in Cleethorpes before getting straight back on the train to come home again.

Glad to see they are playing Brum town hall rather than Symphony Hall again. I never felt SH was a suitable venue, too big and antiseptic for an imtimate band life Fairport.

Worthing again then. Handy for me but I'm surprised they keep coming back. It seems to have been diminishing returns over the last few years and the crowd is always hard work and unresponsive. It doesn't help that they close the bar during the performance.

And the chaps' favourite pub is no longer there. Or rather it has been refurbished into a lager swilling hellhole.

OH NO!!!!  They're playing the Bein Inn again.  And I've got a mission to complete up there...  And that's the weekend I'll be coming back from my annual trip to Scotland anyway...  Drop me off in Perth please my dear...

And I "have" to go to St Albans with the gang.  AND I had decided to get my parents tickets for Croydon for humbug, so I'd be going to that one too...

This tour couldn't have worked out better for me dates-wise if I'd organised it myself!!

Will Justin understand??  Does he need to?

Looks like I'll probably give the Stables a miss though...

They're not showing on Bein Inn or St Albans websites yet...  Tickets seem to be available at Croydon, but I haven't actually gone through the process as far as actually booking yet...

Croydon is definitely on sale through their website - I booked a while ago & have had my ticket for a week at least.

You're not the person who's booked Box A (the "Royal Box") are you, Chris??  I had a further browse around on the Fairfield Halls website and it seems that quite a few tickets have already gone...

It turns out Croydon is a Thursday, so I'll have to negotiate with my band as well as Justin for a night off rehearsal.  They might not be quite so understanding...  Hey ho.

Tickets for the Birmingham show now seem to be available on the Town Hall website.

(Sorry, don't know how to make that a proper link!)

They can have gone on sale only very recently - I checked some time last week.

Enquired on the off-chance last night on the way into the Beth NC gig, and discovered they were on sale. Picked my seat & offered my card. Somewhat alarmingly, they proceeded to take payment & give me my ticket with requesting either PIN number or signature!

I'm thinking about querying the charge when it appears on my account...I doubt they've got a leg to tand on, but of course, they'll cancel the ticket....so maybe not. But still rather alarming.

Also, the front side-circle seats don't come up on the web for purchase, so if you want one of those, give 'em a ring!

St Albans tics on sale yesterday to Mailing List members. The brochure quotes TTL as support, but then again it also says it's the 40th Anniversary Tour. The tics also mention TTL, so can anyone confirm if this is correct, or has someone re-read (or re-sent) the 2007 publicity pack? ???

Same info for the Tewkesbury Roses gig, also now on sale to "Friends". I seem to recall it happened last year as well - the explanation being that they were using  the previous years publicity. If 2008 is a Leap year will they catch up?

Hmmm.....

Nothing about this on the website, but with the lead time for advertising, there's been more than enough time....unless it's a huge error?....

What am I taliking about - take a gander in the latest edition of Word magazine - a full page (is that a first for the wintour?) ad for the wintour....

support? - none other than.....

Anthony John Clarke

What happened to Give Way?

Seems they're out of the country on a USA tour (http://www.rgmbooking.com/tourdates/give_way.htm)

Apparently it is a "sit down upstairs, stand up downstairs" affair, which came as a bit of a surprise. First time for me to attend a stand up Fairport gig. Not that I am complaining, you understand. ::)  ;D

Tickets now purchased for Bein Inn gig.

From their website it appears the lads will have a busy day at the Bein Inn as they are scheduled to play both afternoon & evening.

Also, as a bonus treat, Iain Matthews is playing at the Bein Inn on the day before (Sunday 24th Feb).

What a great weekend that is shaping up to be. ;D
