Title: Dylan Project Tour
Post by: peterwales on November 05, 2007, 08:13:36 PM
Have I missed something, or do most of the forthcoming annual DP's winter tour dates appear to be off? (according to the Fairport website anyway). Anybody know if there is an explanation for this?

Doesn't the "off" just mean evening off, rather than a show that has been cancelled?

Then why put it on the date list?

Well, I dunno - maybe it was compiled by a date completist!. But I think if there was a gig actually off (as in cancelled), it would still list the venue, but have a line through it to indicate its sad demise.

It does mean 'night off', not date cancelled.

"ah", said the blind man,"i see now"
but why put the dates up like that?it does make it look like a load of shows have been cancelled

Well, it does indicate that no gig is planned for that night, so you can stop assuming that it just hasn't been announced and cease searching for the venue. Inserting a preceeding "night" would be less confusing. You can be too brief.

A storming set last night at the Citadel, St Helens.  Everyone on form especially Mr Gibbons. Along with the old favourites, Subterranean Homesick Blues, Sweetheart like you,Dark Eyes, Serve Somebody, a fabulous rendering of Highway 61, there were a couple of new tunes in there too, and I think even a bit of Elvis at one time!!!  Make you feel my love, was the encore, before running out of time...  The Tiny Tins were on earlier and judging by the applause went down well..we also sang Happy Birthday to Danni who was 22 yesterday.  Nice to see Adrian had travelled from Crewe and also lots of faces from Birmingham too.  Jim my lad you have something to look forward to tonight at the Lowry, enjoy !!!

Yes, a great evening. I know there seem to be few gigs on this tour but if you get a chance you've got to see them! ;)

Cheers

Great night at the "walls-pouring-with-sweat-and-history" 100 club in London last night. A fitting end to this short tour by the Dylan Project. Great venue too, apart from the bar prices! Amazing standards of musicianship and improvisation by Steve Gibbons and the rest of this expeiranced and talented band, which makes this much more than just a tribute or "covers" Dylan band. I was surprised by the range of Dylan mateiral the band played- some more obscure songs, and more than there are on their 2 CD's. Even Simon's non-appearance had a positive, in that the band seemed to have more of their own identity when they played, rather than just a Fairport off-shoot; not that there's much wrong with that.
