Am I right in thinking there’s never been a comprehensive release of this material? I’m aware of seven individual tracks that have turned up on various Sandy releases, but it sounds like there’s more in the can. For instance, Heylin goes on to talk about “wonderful vocal and lyrical gymnastics on an extended, semi-improvised ‘Crazy Lady Blues’”: never heard that one.  

There was a vinyl issue of this back in the 70s, I have one. They encored with Yellow Bird.

No, I think you're talking about something different, Paul - the 1970 recordings made at the Troubadour with the Full House lineup. I'm talking about the 1974 recordings with Denny and Donahue.

There are several decent US '74 recordings circulating, but none as far as I know include that track...

Is that the one on the Sandy boxset??? I wonder if we'll get the none-Sandy sung tracks turning up someday from anywhere??

Yes it is - one-off version of Crazy Lady Blues included.

With the discussions elsewhere about other 1974 live recordings being released, I assume that this material referred to here is what has now come out both on the Deluxe Rising for the Moon set and the Come All Ye set?

There's been so much of it that I have long since lost track.

The OP mentions February, but there was a bootlegged gig at the venue on 29th January.

Apparently they played 4 nights on the trot.  I think the released songs may have come from the 1st Feb gig, but they started on the 29th Jan (which was only a few days after the Sydney gig when most of Live Convention was recorded, if I'm not confused,

And to add further confusion, in most of the American clubs like Ebbetts Field and the Bottom Line, they would have played 2 sets a night. So that would have the potential of 8 shows recorded

It never occurred to me that Ebbetts Field was a club.  I always thought it was a... well... a field.   :-[

Confusingly it actually was a field...but not in Colorado! Ebbets Field was home to the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team before they moved to Los Angeles. It was eventually razed for apartment buildings. How or why a club in Colorado used the same name is a mystery to me however.

In this context, a circus, from the Latin word meaning "circle", is a round open space at a street junction.

In a context related to this forum, there are indeed elephants, and lions too, at Piccadilly Circus  :)
