In the picture that Barry posted to illustrate this topic, you are playing a Jazz bass. You are more normally associated with the Crafter.

Which is your favourite bass, and why.

hi Paul, I am very happy with the Crafter bass that I am using at the moment. I have back problems so weight is a real issue. The Crafter plays and sounds great, although I had to have extra screening inserted as it was noisy under serious stage lighting. The Fender jazz is probably the bass that I really think has it all ,and nowadays you can buy really good copies for very little outlay. Cheers, peggy.

My son has the Highway 1 Jazz bass, and he is really pleased with it.

Hi Dave,

Is the back the reason you don't use the Soundgear too much these days?  You seemed inseperable at one point. 

I've got an '88 SR05, which I've had a for few years and am really happy with (although the later ones are more "refined" I've been told) but it is rather weighty compared with my other basses.

Hi Neil, your bass looks great!  I don't use the soundgear now 'cos I kinda knackered it out due to overuse, and it's having some work done on it. It was not heavy (which due to back and shoulder probs. was a big factor ) and has a great neck.I am using a Crafter 5 string and have been recording with it all week and it sounds fab. although it has had extensive screening done to it to avoid noise and hum. It is very well balanced and has great intonation and is even lighter than the Ibanez. I use La bella roundwounds and have done since 1980!! Regards, peggy

Have you ever tried flatwound strings?

Yep, flatwounds are great if you want that original fender sound and some bassists like Duck Dunn. never change them till they break. theres a good story about Duck when he was playing with Phil collins which I can tell you about if you collar me at a gig.Tara.
