Title: FC over Tull Post by: David W on October 10, 2006, 10:22:10 AM Hi Dave,
One question that has always intrigued me is why you chose to reform Fairport, and take on all the hastle of running the band etc, rather than staying with Tull, touring the world in style rather than the back of a van ... Was it for the love of Fairport or did you have "issues" with being a sideman rather than a leader? I learnt an awful lot from Ian Anderson who had assumed that role in Tull. Ian did , and still works his balls off on their behalf and I relished having such a "together" boss. Fairport had always been a bit of a shambles organisationwise. When Christine and I took the festival and the bands scheduling on it was serious work. She did most of it ,as I was always gigging or recording with one or t'other and running the studio too. Ian helped by rescheduling Tull stuff where possible, but it became too much for me in the end and I was working constantly. Fairport has been my life since I was 21. and it was my first love. So, I left the jumbo jet for the van! Regards, peggy.
