Title: 'Stranger To Himself'
Post by: Philip W on February 03, 2008, 08:07:49 PM
Hi Swarb! Thanks for agreeing to answer our questions and making such great music over the years.

As a big fan of Sandy’s work, I was glad to hear you say in one of your first replies that, for you, there was nobody more special to work with than Sandy. Her song ‘Stranger To Himself’ is sometimes said to be about you. Do you recognise yourself in it at all?

Philip

Yes I certainly do recognise myself in it, maybe not so much now but back when it was composed, yes, I recognised myself as soon as she sang  it and in fact It was written when trevor was her husband and he being my pal, I asked him if that was so. yes said he,  and how nice is that? to be the inspiration for such a great song. swarb

Thanks for that, Swarb. Such a great track. Do you know the version by Tommy O’Sullivan and Paddy Keenan? http://www.paddykeenan.com/grazing/index.htm
I think the uilleann pipes really bring out the Celtic in the song.
