Title: Turning the clock back... Post by: Mortimer on February 04, 2008, 03:01:03 PM Dear Swarb
May I add my thanks to you for appearing in our humble abode. A hypothetical scenario: its late 1969, L&L just released to wide acclaim, Sandy and Ashley do not leave, what happens next? Expanding a bit on the original question. Was it a hard descision to join Fairport full time and how do you think things would have turned out had you not joined FC. Thanks, Pat Title: Re: Turning the clock back... Post by: Swarb on February 05, 2008, 04:50:48 PM no it was an easy decision, I was sorry to leave martin, but i was hard of hearing haveing just had a major ear op, so electric was the way to go .plus i was intrigued by the possibility of expanding the colours of a ballad musically, and i was also captivated by richards playing. I have no idea what would have happened otherwise.

Speaking of your hearing, has it improved (I do hope so) since playing mostly accoustic and is it possible for you to play electric on a regular basis? Thanks, Pat Title: Re: Turning the clock back... Post by: Barry on February 05, 2008, 05:13:31 PM Turning it on its head, then, I remember your first supposed "solo" gig at the QEH (with you being "plastered" as Bert Lloyd teasingly put it, but from a ligament operation, as I recall?) in support of the wonderful "Swarbrick" album - and what a great gig it was!
The critics at that time seems amazed that you hadn't lost your sensitivity for acoustic playing. Did that give you some quiet satisfaction? Title: Re: Turning the clock back... Post by: Swarb on February 05, 2008, 05:46:54 PM hearing hasnt improved much ,it cant since i had most of one ear removed, but its stable and steady since i gave up smoking,
ah you remember the plastered gig aye? i did enjoy that one |
