Title: Foot tappers
Post by: tarda (Gill) on March 01, 2008, 11:32:19 AM
So, what is your true opinion of audible foot tapping during a gig? Can you actually hear it?

I was at the Hawth last night and personally found the talkative guy who complained more annoying than the foot tapper.

Indeed!

His making comments to his companion during your anecdotes was most annoying. But I was very British and just gave him a hard stare - which he didn't notice.  ::)

Great gig, by the way, I didn't even notice my bum going numb.

... and I tapped my feet whenever I wanted to (but quietly!)

good for you, I never heard the likes. why did he come in the first place? if he felt able to sit there without tapping his fet, and talking through the anecdotes then why on earth did he pay his money and come.I would rather he had stayed at home with his mum and knitted!

This has often been a big problem here in Norway. On countless occcasions I've gone to see favourite artists of mine playing acoustic gigs and had it ruined by talking idiots. One of the worst occasions was when you and Simon played in Drammen in the winter of 1983. I drove through a blizzard for 150 kilometres and back for that. And these sods ruined the atmosphere. I felt so embarassed for the two of you. You played brilliantly, but I never saw anyone pack up their instrument quite as demonstratively as you did that night. The message was clear: No encore! Those of us who were there for the music was left sad and frustrated.

But after we discussed the proper temperature of real ale for a few minutes you returned to your cheerful self.
