Title: Peggy and PJ gig alert, 19th July Post by: hurdygurdyman (Paul) on June 12, 2008, 08:34:09 PM Peggy and PJ will be headlining the music stage at English Heritage's Festival of History on Saturday 19th July at Kelmarsh near Market Harborough. A great event but it always used to clash with Cropredy- but not this year ;D
The EH website doesn't give much detail yet other than prices and directions but should do by next week. So FYI, An Afternoon Off with Peggy and PJ is scheduled for 4.30pm (the event finishes at 6pm) on the 19th July. You can't buy a ticket just for the concert but the Festival includes other music from medieval to 20th century, artists include medieval rock'n'roller wynndebagge, The Oxford Waits, Hautbois, Eddie Upton & Folk south West, Jackfield Brass Band, the rapper Baba Brinkman doing The Canterbury Tales, Great Western Morris. All this plus jousting, falconry and daring men in old flying machines, blokes knocking seven bells out of one another (that'll be the morris dancers) plus plenty of family friendly activities and workshops. The event runs over the weekend but Peggy and PJ are headlining the Saturday only. Should be a great chance to Peggy and PJ up close in an unusual setting (there's normally someone in viking horns and battle torn rags standing at the back - so really not that different from Cropredy). Strongly recommend going to see these two. Will post more about it tomorrow when I'm a bit more awake ^-^ Title: Re: Peggy and PJ gig alert, 19th July Post by: Ancient Muse (Andy) on June 13, 2008, 01:26:53 AM oohhhh ... I thought it was PJ & Duncan ... wondered why they weren't looking as young and fresh-faced as usual ...
Actually it was a bloody good evening, not too many peeps in audience but a delightful little venue and loved their Shadows bit at the end ... 8) Title: Re: Peggy and PJ gig alert, 19th July Post by: Edthefolkie on June 16, 2008, 03:41:45 PM Thanks for posting that Paul, think we'll have to go, it's only down the road!
I wonder if Peggy & PJ can be classed as Early Music? ;D ;D (I'll get me coat) Title: Re: Peggy and PJ gig alert, 19th July Post by: Angela on June 17, 2008, 10:51:16 PM We saw Peggy and PJ last Wednesday at Faversham Folk Club. It was a brilliant night, very laid back and good fun and it was made that bit extra special by Alan Prosser doing a floor spot! ;D

Title: Re: Peggy and PJ gig alert, 19th July Post by: hurdygurdyman (Paul) on July 24, 2008, 02:02:35 PM The boys played a great gig and went down really well.
Cool I was too busy to take any photos but if any TAWs did, it would be great to see them. An unusual festival with lots of people in strange costumes representing, as PJ described it, "1000 years of institutional violence". Next year's dates 25/26 July 2009. I'm looking for inspiration to cover the Saturday finale spot - need to have an English feel about the music, not massive PA requirements and not to be too worried when the Spitfires start flying overhead. Anyway, big thanks to peggy and PJ for helping to make this year's Fest the best so far. I was the guy with the Pentax K20D who was cracking up at the (old) jokes.

NB Either the water at Kelmarsh is extremely diuretic or they are doing a Shads impersonation. I'll soon be in a field in Oxfordshire near the bar wearing/playing a hurdy gurdy (so you'll know it's me, unless another one turns up). Come and say hello and I'll stand you a pint. As for the Romans - at least they don't wear socks with their sandals!
