Title: Fairport Span/ Steeleye Convention
Post by: Nigel no longer of Lysander on June 24, 2008, 01:39:58 PM
Tam Lin, John Barleycorn, The Beggar or The Card Song (basically the same song, different title; both versions played on by Mr. Mattacks), Bonny Black Hare, Si Begh Si Mohr, General Taylor have all been recorded by both bands so the question is :-

a) Have I missed any out ?

and b) which songs could also be interchangeable ?

Cheers Nigel

Well, I'm stretching the boundaries here... Three Drunken Maidens (not Steeleye, as such, but Tim Hart & Maddy Prior)  :)

Not sure about the Card Song...but they recorded "The Beggar" on Bedlam Born; one of their very finest records ever, IMO, and sadly overlooked by most fans.
