Lincoln & Chesterfield for me then... for starters ;D ;D

Great to see the dates already advertised early though as they haven't been for a few years.. helps so much with planning.

It's very unlikely that tickets are yet on sale for any gig listed.

Please post here if you find differently.

Hooray - the Union Chapel - they are playing somewhere we can get to on the tube or even the bus  :o

Do we then go to St Albans as well? Decisions, decisions ...

Amazed there's nothing in South Wales - maybe they're still negotiating on the venue? I'd be surprised if they missed us out, they don't usually.

I hope they hadn't booked to play the pier at WSM  :(

I suspect the credit crunch situation is making council-run venues look hard at what they self-promote. We're back to needing promoters in some parts of the country...Cambridge is another that's been dropped....

I don't think there's a venue on the pier - they always play the WsM Playhouse.....

Perhaps it was Blazing Fiddles @ WSM?  :)

Tewkesbury or Brum for me. Maybe both. I wonder if I can persuade Mrs PaulT to join me...?

Well, they played Pontardawe Arts Centre last time around. Now they have a gig in North Wales. I reckon they think it's their turn. :(

I'm hoping to get to WSM though - my niece lives nearby and I can crash out at hers.....

Also, Birmingham is an option, (local relatives once again) so all is not lost. {:-)

Brilliant - Huddersfield on a Friday!  ;D

I'll have to make sure I have an early finish that day so that we can get there nice & early and have a bite before the gig.

Quite a few possibilities for us - London, Tunbridge Wells, Hunstanton, St Albans, although it partly depends on which days of the week the dates fall.

If there is a changing setlist like last year, we'll probably try to get to more than one.

There seem to be more northern venues this year ... a good thing, obviously ... for northerners.

Just about 50 years out of date, there used to be a regular paddle steamer service from Weston-Super-Mud to Barry. Took one as a lad as well!

No Croydon this year then - that's a shame. I usually do Tunbridge Wells then if I am still feeling peckish catch up with them again at the end of the tour at Croydon.

I would guess that this http://www.centenarycentre.com/Index.htm would be the most likely venue, if it is it would be nice.

Web cams here http://www.gov.im/tourism/webcam/webcam.aspx?webcam=5, ever since I got back I love looking at these :D

Still is Puggs, it's called the Waverley but it's currently out of the water having repairs on its paddle. And it only runs in the summer. Seems they prefer us to drive over the bridge.  :-\

I have a friend with a RIB tho, he might take us across the Channel... would be fun coming back in the dark at 60mph  :P (closest I can get to sicky smiley)

Peel would be a nice place for a gig, and after all, The Who played in Peel last year! (No, I'm not joking.) However, Douglas might seem more likely: The Gaiety?

I won't be there--it's years since I lived on the Isle of Man--but I'll be at Kendal the night after. An "electric" gig in Kendal will be a first if I'm not mistaken ....

The Marlowe is being refurbished, (demolished!) they have no panto listed in their current programme which runs to the end of September. The programme says:
"The Marlowe is scheduled to close early next year, and to reopen in Autumn 2010.  During this period there will be plenty to keep you entertained, with performances planned in a number of different venues"
The plans include a larger auditorium to seat 1200 rather than the current 950, a second 150 seat venue, new bars, 3 foyers, a riverside cafe, and a piazza.
More info from this site:
http://www.newmarlowetheatre.org.uk/

I was hoping for Maidstone or Chatham to appear on the tour, so I guess it'll have to be Tunbridge Wells.

Just 2 minutes ago the Marlowe 'list of events' arrived on my doormat.  Seems to be a full program until January 2009.  Evidently Snow White is the Panto (with Honey from Eastenders as the heroine)  It states that "The Marlowe is scheduled to close early next year and to re-open in early 2011"  Unfortunately though, there is no mention of a band called Fairport .... :)

Likewise mine arrived after I'd posted so I only had the one up to September.  So there is a panto, but obviously they are not booking too much.

That's great news about Ken Nicol - I love his stuff.  His song about a holiday in the Western Isles is spot on and describes exactly how it was when we went there and The Level Plain is such a beautiful guitar piece. I don't know anything about Phil Cool.

BB - St Albans is OK - I've never had any issues with the sound, whether in the flat section in front of the stage or in the front of the risers (sorry, don't know the technical names).  Even saw Kate Rusby once way up top in the ?circle, the mezzanine bit - that was fine too.

DD - I'm whirling!  Just waiting for the parents to get back to me.  Looking forward to meeting some TAWs there too!

Ticket for Brum duly purchased! Huzah.  ;D [;-)

Would suggest, after extensive and very exhaustive research, that honourable members wishing to meet do so at The Shakespear, Lower Temple Street.  This is just off New Street and with 5 mins walk of the Town Hall.  3 Real ales:-
Black Sheep, Everad's Tiger and Deuchars IPA at the time of going to press, reasonable prices (£2.35 PP not bad for City centre)
Food available (not sure about early evening)
Traditional style and decor.

You humble co-respondant  [;-)

Right that's 9 tickets booked for The Union Chapel - well what else is there to do on Christmas Eve?

A small Scrooge-like grumble - how can the agents charge a 10% mark-up on each ticket plus postage? Somebody has just pocketed £18 after I've done all the work of booking.  >:( Especially galling as there is no alternative method of booking at this venue such as a box office where you can pop in to get tickets. Compare this with the South Bank or Barbican where there is just a flat rate booking/postage fee of £1.50 or so.

Mutter, mutter, grumble, grumble ...

But we are looking forward to it though and will make sure we get there early to get a good pew  ;)

There may be some odd single seats around the place (probably best to phone them) if you don't mind not sitting with whoever you've gone with...

Or you could try St Albans?  I normally go there, but will be in Scotland this year.

Shame they're not coming to Wales  :( Weston SM is the nearest and that's well over an hour's drive away.

Never mind, I'm sure I'll see them in August  :)

I have one ticket for the Union Chapel concert on Sat 7th Feb. I cannot use it as I'm going to see James McMurtry at the Luminaire, Kilburn on the same night. I bought the Fairport ticket before I found out he was touring Europe for the first time.
Happy to sell the Fairport ticket at face value-£20. It's an e-ticket from WEGOTTICKETS which I can reallocate with a new name and email address. Hope someone can make use of it.

Lawks! Glad I got bored on Christmas Eve and got ours ordered. Should be a good night - wonder what time the queue will start forming to get a front row pew?

Oh no, it's NOT......not sure when this happened, but there are certainly more on sale now, both via We Got Tickets and See tickets.

We Got Tickets - cheapest for booking fees, but as you don't get a hard ticket, you have to queue to show your credit card for ID, while those who paid more through See Tickets and get a hard ticket waltz past into the front seats....

Payz yer money & take yer choice....both have extra tickets now.

Snow bad here and more expected. I hope the weather gods relent by Wednesday - it's one thing getting an unexpected day off work today, but I won't be happy if we can't get to Basingstoke. (Need an anxious smiley to insert here!)
