Title: song lyrics
Post by: russell on January 20, 2009, 07:22:34 PM
hello everyone, as you can probably tell im new here ,i have an unhealthy interest in folk music especially irish folk, but i can be persuaded to listen to all kinds of folk especially cajun and bluegrass. However my main reason for posting this request is to try and achieve a goal from 1972. At that time my local radio station in Manchester ,England was Piccadilly, they ran a programme called Folkspan every week and on one occasion i caught the last few minutes of a song performed by Fairport Convention with Sandy Denny as vocalist . Now my question , does any one know where i can obtain , look at or download song lyrics for the band, i only have a very brief couple of lines from the end of the song , but it was such a fantastic sound that i have been trying to find it since then any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks Russ.. :-\

Have you tried typing the lyrics into google and searching?
I'm sure if you typed them here, someone would identify the song for you.

To echo the others post the lyrics and be amazed at the collective knowledge, there are some that will know even if it was only performed one time.

Also welcome

Ok, 1972; Sandy Denny.  That limits it already.  Let's have a sweepstake.  I'm feeling something Leige & Lief.

Wish he'd share it - could put us all out of our misery and we could get on with the serious business of writing bo**ox in other threads;D

Ahhh.....I see, Jim.  My mistake, sorry.

By the time ALLO, ALLO came out, it was too late for me.  Being weened on the Bavarian dialects in HOGANS, I just never could grasp that Lower Saxony twang in ALLO!   ;)

Could you mean "The conductor is weary. He's stuck out on the line."?

If so the song is I'll keep it With Mine, from What we did on our Holidays

Decided to give the song a listen as it has been awhile and the  lyric is "The conductor, he's weary. He's still stuck on the line"

I was close

It is a Bob Dylan song by the way.

Yes, one of the few Dylan covers that makes it sound like anything but a Dylan song.
Another is The French Girl by Ian & Sylvia, as well as by Gene Clark.
