Title: Name dropping I am... Post by: David (terrrrrrrr) on January 27, 2009, 06:43:38 PM FULL HOUSE
I think I have a rare copy of this album. It's a pre-release copy, white middle, folding sleeve with no info in middle. It has the Poor Will track on it, which I think was not included on the original actual release. I went into my record shop to buy the proper copy, and was offered this one. Sadly for me I have written in the white middle, the track list, album name, and worst of all, my name. Well I was young and foolish, and never thought that I would still have the record nearly 40 years later. I just bought it to listen to, like we did then. Does anyone know if this album, despite my defacing of the middle, might be worth anything? I add that I am NOT looking to sell it. The name dropping bit comes from me asking the question on the Fairport site, thinking I would get through to a board very much like I am on now. Dave Pegg and Simon Nicol replied, recommending I joined up and ask you guys. So, here I am Title: Re: Name dropping I am... Post by: davidmjs on January 27, 2009, 06:59:16 PM In my opinion, no, not very much... Just love it and listen to it and remember to tell people never to write on records, books or similar such items in future :)

The simple truth is, the only way to find out what it's worth is to stick it on eBay and find out.....I realise that's not a very helpful answer, but it is the truth! Title: Re: Name dropping I am... writing on it does bugger up the value though, collectors do like mint Title: Re: Name dropping I am... Post by: David (terrrrrrrr) on January 27, 2009, 09:38:45 PM If someone can guide me through the process, then yes. I've never posted a picture online before.

Title: Re: Name dropping I am... Post by: Jules Gray on January 28, 2009, 09:33:08 AM I don't know about value - but that's a very cool item to have. And even more special to have had it all those years when Poor Will was so hard to find....

Post by: Smithsinarazz on January 28, 2009, 03:37:53 PM Seeing as you aren't planning on selling it anyway, i may as well say I like inscriptions in books and so on. They give an object a bit of history. I don't write in my own books but I really like it when people give me books and they've written "to Smiths, love So-and-so" etc.
The only time I get annoyed is when you buy a second-hand book that's been an academic set text and some numpty's underlined - or worse, highlighted - everything until half-way through chapter 1 and written daft obvious glosses in the margin. But you can't do that with a record anyway. Love Smiths Title: Re: Name dropping I am... Post by: Pat Helms on January 28, 2009, 11:52:46 PM Here might be a good place to look........

Record Collector Price Guide is better imho, anglo-centric as it is.... Title: Re: Name dropping I am... Post by: Pat Helms on January 29, 2009, 01:24:00 PM Well, then.......by all means!!
Title: Re: Name dropping I am... Post by: David (terrrrrrrr) on January 29, 2009, 04:28:00 PM Sorry if you're still waiting for my photos of Full House. I have yet to venture up into the grenier for a rummage round. I know roughly where it is, but I have had other things taking priority. My wife was in a car accident in October, and is still having hospital tests to find out why she blacked out at the wheel. I hope to get sorted with the pix tomorrow, but even if it's another few days, I will do it...
