Title: Fairport at West Midlands Showground Post by: gary1958 on March 22, 2009, 09:49:15 PM Hi
My first post here. Not seen this show anywhere on this forum. http://www.new-dawn-events.co.uk/category/current-events/westmidlands/west-midlands-showground-25th-may-2009/ Title: Re: Fairport at West Midlands Showground Post by: Andy on March 23, 2009, 04:31:56 AM "Fairport Convention, Mostly Autumn, Mari Wilson & Space Ritual". Now that's an eclectic mix.
Mostly Autumn made quite the impact at Cropredy a few years back with some of the people here. Welcome to TAW, Gary. Title: Re: Fairport at West Midlands Showground Post by: Hurricane (Dan) on May 17, 2009, 02:25:40 PM Been cancelled apparently - only sold 70 tickets
Title: Re: Fairport at West Midlands Showground Post by: Tasha on May 18, 2009, 06:23:06 PM very poorly advertised. I live in the area and only found out about it from a friend of a friend who works at the showground. I couldn't go because it was when i'm away. But there's been very little about it at all. They have another weekend planned as well-Memories of Woodstock 40th Anniversary Alvin Lee and Jefferson Starship Asia, Focus, Strawbs,Barclay James Harvest, Jethro Tull, Melanie, Carl Palmer It’s A Beautiful Day.Trouble is its on 7th, 8th and 9th August 2009 and again i'm on holiday
Title: Re: Fairport at West Midlands Showground Post by: Homer-Simpson-8 on May 18, 2009, 08:12:16 PM 70 tickets? I once saw Fairport at free open air gig at Himley Hall, near Dudley, at the end of a bill which also included (I think the Steve Gibbons Band.) By the time Fairport came on, for their hour`s set, there weren`t more than a hundred or so of us left.

Title: Re: Fairport at West Midlands Showground Post by: Hurricane (Dan) on June 30, 2009, 11:01:00 PM Warning all - I paid for two tickets from New Dawn Events for this gig that was cancelled and they won't refund the money. Beware purchasing tickets from them for any future gigs. I am in process of CCJ proceedings
Title: Re: Fairport at West Midlands Showground Post by: Chris on July 01, 2009, 09:51:04 AM Aren't they also running the proposed Woodstock Memories' weekend in early August?
Title: Re: Fairport at West Midlands Showground Post by: Sandra on July 01, 2009, 10:04:35 AM Yes, worryingly.
Title: Re: Fairport at West Midlands Showground Post by: Chris on July 01, 2009, 10:11:34 AM There's no way I'd buy, except on the gate....
Title: Re: Fairport at West Midlands Showground Post by: jonnybrilliant on July 03, 2009, 11:50:54 AM Anybody needing refunds for cancelled shows - Much easier to contact the management directly of the headline band from the August show, explain you can't get a refund, and you are worried for the fans of other bands.
You will get your refund faster than you can say 'fast!' Nothing gets managers into a total panic more than a dodgy promoter.. Good luck! Jon Title: Re: Fairport at West Midlands Showground Post by: gary1958 on July 11, 2009, 12:24:46 PM I saw this on the Talon (Eagles tribute band) site today :
We have with regret decided not to appear on the Crathes Castle gig in Aberdeenshire which is scheduled for 15th August. It is Promoted by 'New Dawn Events', the same Promoter that presented the West Midlands Showground gig in Shrewsbury back in May. Unfortunately, despite many promises and several deadlines coming and going we are still awaiting payment. Given these facts Talon are not prepared to take the risk. Whether or not the show will still go on or whether the other bands that are billed will still appear is not for us to say. We can only speak for Talon and apologise for any inconveience that we may have caused. A tad off topic, but a Tribute to the National Symphony Orchestra!?!? ??? There are only three tribute bands I would bother paying to see - Bjorn Again, The Bootleg Beatles and The Australian Pink Floyd Show - I haven't heard of any of those in the article. No wonder no-one came, it's pot luck with tribute bands. Surely there must've been a time when you'd never heard of and hence wouldn't have paid to see them either ? Muffin Men for Cropredy! (again ::)) Title: Re: Fairport at West Midlands Showground Post by: Keith on July 15, 2009, 10:32:24 AM There are only three tribute bands I would bother paying to see - Bjorn Again, The Bootleg Beatles and The Australian Pink Floyd Show - I haven't heard of any of those in the article. And I hope people will take you up on it.. but I think you've posted the same thing in enough places... :D Will you stay and join in? :) Jude (newbie welcomer) Title: Re: Fairport at West Midlands Showground Post by: Jules Cambridge on August 01, 2009, 11:11:49 PM hi jude
