I've still got my original cassette bought at the stall at Wimbledon Theatre in early Jan 1982 (I think). I found the CD a bit of a shock to the system without the tape squeeks :) Title: Re: Fairport Convention Airing Cupboard Tapes 71-74 Post by: Kurt on April 28, 2009, 04:14:36 PM Thanks for the reply.
Yeah,I figured the sound quality wouldn't be the greatest but since I collect records,I figured I would get it on vinyl. K.P. There are a couple of tracks that are poor bootleg quality which I chose to omit when I ripped it to my PC/Ipod. Some good performances on there though and DM's sleeve notes are interesting.

They're also releasing a Sandy Denny EP on vinyl in May - what next?!? They show how Simon really rose to the challenge of playing lead guitar after RT's departure.

I rememeber seeing FC at The Dagenham Roundhouse in 1971 just after Rich T had moved on... Few if any are the quality of Richard Thompson (even Richard Thompson himself at times) but Simon Nicol did an excellent job of keeping the rock elements together, the power... How well I recall that blonde telecaster... Swarb and Peggy always tried to play too fast for Simon to keep up but he did! Well done that man. No disgrace to be the Bruce Welch to Rich T's Hank. Title: Re: Fairport Convention Airing Cupboard Tapes 71-74 Post by: Mindwarper on May 16, 2009, 12:27:18 AM I also like the 1971 stuff. I wish they would make a video cupboard DVD. All the odds and ends. But because of costs, I doubt it will happen. Sigh.
