Title: Fairport Acoustic (5-piece) in Adderbury - July 10th
Post by: Triv on June 18, 2009, 10:58:09 AM
Just a reminder that Fairport Acoustic will be playing in St Mary's Church, Addetrbury on Friday July 10th from 7:30pm.

This special show is to support the Adderbury Party in the Park fund which feeds village charities, specifically the Katharine House Hospice in the village. There are still around 100 tickets left, and these are available at £15 from The Bell Inn and TasteBuds, both on Adderbury High street.

It'd be great to see some of you there if you can make it. Why not hang around for 12 hours of FREE music in Adderbury Park the following day, Saturday 11th July? Bands her include Freeway Jam, Dickie White's Jazz Allstars, Harlequinn (opening up Cropredy Thursday and FANTASTIC) and loads more.

More details of the full event including running order and timings can be found at http://www.AdderburyEvents.co.uk

Cheers!

Triv x

The Silverfish dropped out so Immie's tidy troupe were 1st in line  8)

You'll be there I take it?

Triv - I've emailed you as well... is there any way I can get a ticket other than from the shop/pub? I'm running the Adderbury half-marathon the following morning (camping at Bo-Peep).

Cheers

I've just reserved a ticket via The Bell Inn (thanks, Triv!) - they asked how many I wanted, so I guess there must be at least a few...

Camping

Camping is available at the Bo Peep Caravan Park. Although it is the other side of the village (approx 1.5 miles walk), the walk is lit on the road until you get to the entrance to the site. About here however it goes dark, so we would recommend you take a torch or two with you! And it's not a festival campsite, so no Glastonbury'esque bonfires or Cropredy sing-songs at 2am please!!!  For more information, please visit http://www.bo-peep.demon.co.uk/  - and tell 'em we sent you if you go in person!!!

I can't make the Friday gig as I have a last minute Party in the Park rehersal with Blue Coyotes that night - we're the first band up on the Saturday afternoon. Hope to see you lot there. I'll be the one with the Fender Jazz bass - but at the minute I can't make up my mind which colour to use!

I'm staying at Bo-Peep on Friday night; seriously considering staying over Saturday as well so I can have a few beers after the run while watching the bands...

If anyone wants to reserve tickets they can cal The Bell in Adderbury (Gold medal winning beers) on 01295 810338 and reserve. Just collect before 7:00pm on Friday 10th and wander across the road to the Church to see FCA.

Anyone in a Fez at the gig qualifies for a beer on me at the Bell after the gig!

Surely it'd be open at lunchtime, Chris?

But are you going to go along at lunchtime when the gig is in the evening?....!!

No - what I meant was if you turnmed up before 7pm, say at 6.45pm is the pub likely to be open? I thought it only opened for evening trade at 7......

So,

who from TAW is going?

I'm definitely going - Chris, Ian, Angie H? Anyone else?

I'll be in the Bell to pick up my ticket at/shortly after evening opening time...

I would have, but being car-less means I can get as far as Banbury and then I would face difficulty get to/from Adderbury (I think unless somebody can enlighten me)

I think you can probably get there, Dave - service 59 on Stagecoach Oxfordshire (google for timetable), but I'm not sure where you'd stop overnight - you would definitely need to B&B somewhere. The last train to Birmingham (Moor Street / Snow Hill) is around 2300.....

I'd really love to go but I'm playing a gig that night so won't be there (and it's a bit far from Edinburgh).

Hi Dave, sadly we won't be going otherwise you could have come with us. If you can get to Banbury, we know a great B&B that is very cheap and friendly. IM if you need details.

Any remaining tickets will be taken to the Church and available on the door from 7:00pm when we open. They'll be in The Bell between 6:00pm and 7:00pm (a stones throw away).

The gig starts at 7:30

Hope to see you there

What a lovely evening it was.  And such a beautiful setting.

I met Paul and Martin, but they didn't recognise me.  Can't think why.

I was there! Sitting far-left in one of the comfortable chairs  ;D  I think I saw Chris, but no-one else, and I don't suppose anyone recognised me....

The show was good, and it was especially moving to hear the love with which Simon spoke about Sandy  {:-)

(And wasn't the girl singer impressive? Astonishing voice for a fourteen-year old  :o )

I was in the front side pew, immediately next to the comfy chairs. Wearing a red top.

Yes, she was lovely.  Her name was Jossy.  If you were where I think you were, I believe there were several of her schoolfriends sitting in front of you.
When Fairport came on, they kept mouthing to their fathers that they wanted to go outside, but weren't allowed to.  They weren't there after the interval. Kids today eh?   ;)

Ha! I think I saw you. I had a Fairport 2006 tee-shirt and a denim shirt, and was possibly visibly pining for another glass of white wine towards the end of the first half  ;D

It looked as though the show was being filmed; anybody know?

Evening all,

as others have said, a lovely Friday evening in and around Adderbury church & the Bell.  FC on good form & yes - young Jossy was terrific.  Great pics from Martin (thanks) - I want one of those bass ukes - where did Peggy get it?

Good to meet Angie, Martin & Chris in the church - sorry we missed Ian, though.

And the carbo-loading only worked up to a point... a fitful & uncomfortable sleep in the tent caused very stiff & painful hips, so the run wasn't quite as quick as I'd hoped!  And the weather forecast didn't sound too good, so I'm afraid I didn't stay for the Party in The Park - though I did catch the latter half of the Blue Coyotes - who sounded just fine to me.  Hats off to Tony (the Roundhead) on the bass...

Thanks for the lovely shots Martin, the lighting in the church is fab. I think I might buy one of them Casios!

Although, to go off topic, does our family need any more cameras? Coincidentally, an inventory I did this afternoon reveals the following:

Brownie 127, Kodak Vecta, Kodak Colorsnap 35 II, Pentax S1a,  Pentax K1000, Pentax MX-5, Pentax K20D, Pentax S4i, Olympus Trip 35, Olympus XA2, Fuji FinePix A500, Canon Ixus, Olympus Mu mini, another Olympus film Mu, sundry plastic 35mm cameras bought on hols, sundry obsolete flashguns, 2 screw fit Pentax lenses, about 6 Pentax bayonet lenses,  Weston Master V meter, Pentax clip-on meter, Hanimex meter, 3 million Kodachromes, etc. etc. etc. There should also be a Voigtlander Brilliant wot I have lost, but it was cr*p anyway.
