Title: Harvest of Gold(The English Folk Almanac) - Sources/Lineup?
Post by: steve-n on July 31, 2009, 11:22:20 AM
An impulse purchase from Amazon - a rather nicely presented 2cd package with tracks from FC, Magna Carta, Steeleye Span and Amazing Blondel.
The Fairport tracks (Dirty Linen, Deserter*, Bridge Over the River Ash, The Lark In The Morning and Sir Patrick Spens) are grouped and appear (from the applause/introductions) to be taken from a live peformance.
Vocals and fiddle are certainly Swarb, possibly Simon on BV's and Peggy on bass.

Does anyone have any idea as to the source/date/actual lineup?

* rather bizarrely attributed to Denny,Hutchins,Mattacks,Nichol,Tompson (sic)

Looks like a Proper compilation - have you checked their website?

No, it isn't - the REcord Label is Recording Arts S.A., released through Proper.

Discogs (http://www.discogs.com/label/Recording+Arts+SA) has many of theirs, but sadly not this one.

Bit of a dialogue here,Chris.  ;)

It's on Amazon for £7.79, but obviously no details of source material.

Am I the only one who has a copy?

I forgot about this set. I have it somewhere in my multitudes. Have to dig it out and have a listen again
