Title: Cropredy 09 what cds did you buy? Post by: Jim on August 16, 2009, 07:39:10 PM So i had a stroll down to the cd tent amd wasnt too bothered by what was on offer i had a look a Troy, Mattacks and Brown - "Live At Captain Carlo's" put it down at walked away.
But the damned thing nagged away at me for a while and i realised that if i didnt get it there and then i would probably be condemned to spend eternity trawling the tinterweb for a copy . So i went back and bought it Then i went back and bought the 2 feast of fiddles cds. what did you shell out for , gentle reader? Title: Re: Cropredy 09 what cds did you buy? Post by: Ollie on August 16, 2009, 07:43:31 PM Mary Hampton - My Mother's Children
Mawkin:Causley - The Awkward Recruit Lau - Live Benji Kirkpatrick - Boomerang A free Proper compliation A compilation called Strange Folk for £2. Didn't have an awful lot to spend on CDs this year as I spent half of my spending money on a rather nice and very warm jumper/coat thing. Would have liked to have got FoF's latest, a ColvinQuarmby CD and maybe a Churchfitters CD as well. Title: Re: Cropredy 09 what cds did you buy? Post by: Goaty on August 16, 2009, 07:44:47 PM Red Shoes - Ring Around The Land. Listening now.

Feast Of Fiddles - Still Live Yes - Going For The One Two RT live albums previously missing from my collection, The Chrono Show & More Guitar The RT box set, Walking On A Wire. The last of these was the strangest purchase as I already have everything on it! But it looked so lovely glinting in the sunshine that it called to me. I was finally persuaded by a chance meeting with a friend on the site who told me he had already lost the same debate with himself and said it had an excellent book with it! I haven't taken the sellophane off yet and am wondering whether to give it to somebody as a birthday present. I really spent money on CDs that I couldn't afoord this year. Not to mention T shirts, Nepalese cotton shirts and overpriced pizza! Would have liked a Colvin Quarmby CD but I didn't know which one to go for. Any recommendations? Post by: Rory. on August 16, 2009, 08:37:44 PM Mary Hampton - My Mother's Children I've only ever heard her sing one song on a floor spot in a club, but her performance was mesmerising. I must get that CD :) Title: Re: Cropredy 09 what cds did you buy? Post by: Steve with the black dog on August 16, 2009, 08:41:38 PM Talking with Strangers - Ms Dyble - signed !

Post by: Ancient Muse (Andy) on August 16, 2009, 09:24:09 PM Bad Shepherds was a MUST - and a non-queuer like me actually queued to get sigs on it and compliment Maart on yet another MAGIC collaboration!
Ade Edmondson also very nice and looks better in person than on the telly. Title: Re: Cropredy 09 what cds did you buy? I must get that CD :) One of the best 5 albums of last year IMO - when I saw it on sale for £6 I wanted to stand by the stall ranting at people until they were all sold (but I didn't). I bought; Tickled Pink eponymous The 'new' Buzzcocks album (released - 2006) A £6 album that I can't remember the name of Bad Shepherds And the 'Last Shop Standing' book, which is not only brilliant, but features my two favouriye CD shops, including pictures (Muse Music and Wall of Sound). Title: Re: Cropredy 09 what cds did you buy? Post by: PaulT on August 17, 2009, 10:31:02 AM Well, I couldn't get to Cropredy, :(, but I bought a double live CD - "The Collector's King Crimson vol 1" - 2 shows from 1974, including the full, unedited versions of the tracks from the "USA" album. Excellent! ;D

Churchfitters - "This Fine Night". Haven't managed to listen to either of them yet, as the CD player in the car doesn't work and just haven't managed to get Radio 4 off the home stereo since we got back. As I'm on the 'puter I'll stick them onto the phone for listening to on the way home from work. Title: Re: Cropredy 09 what cds did you buy? Post by: Tertonmike on August 19, 2009, 12:41:07 AM Went a bid mad on Saturday in the Proper tent, having already had a plunge at the Talking Elephant stall in the village:
Got RT's "Live Warrior" for my 9 y.o. (whose musical tastes I'm trying to refine, in competition with Disney's "High School Musical" and other tat, damn their eyes!) and got it signed, much to her delight. Ditto Nik Kershaw's latest effort for the wife (she's just at that awkward age). And for me, some Gregson & Collister, Boo Hewerdine, Otway's ludicrous "Ot-Air", Dave Cousins, Pete Bardens, Traffic, Neil Young, Lau, Steve Gibbons, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Jaco Pastorius. Also filled a couple of curious holes in my collection with "Full House" and "The Northstar Grassman..." PLUS the free CD with "R2". So....home penniless but with plenty to listen to! Title: Re: Cropredy 09 what cds did you buy? Post by: PL (Peter) on August 19, 2009, 08:04:35 AM Spend money in at Talking Elephant & the CD tent.

So I only ended up buying 'Fame and Glory' which I listened to in the car on the way to Devon, and I loved it.
