Title: Cropredy 1979 Post by: PLW (Peter) on August 28, 2009, 01:41:31 PM I've asked this somewhere else, but would love to know the answer. . .
Which field was Cropredy 79 held in? I was there and remember there being several thousand others. I have a copy of the original programme, and the map suggests it was in the area next to the canal, where they used to hold the car boot sale. I went and had a look this year, and it's tiny. Hardly enough room for a stage let alone more than 4,000 people. Anyone with a better memory than me? A lot of it was cordoned off this year for some reason.

I'll have to find a map .... Possibly where field 7b is now? Title: Re: Cropredy 1979 Post by: jude on August 28, 2009, 02:01:41 PM The car boot sale was held on the cricket pitch by the pavilion this year, hence the cordonning off of the hallowed parts of the pitch ;D
in previous years the carboot was held on land on the other side of the canal, over the bridge, next to the coal yard which extends quite a way back, which I think is the bit PLW was talking about :) My earliest programme is 1981 and that was at Broughton, so that's no help!! ::) Title: Re: Cropredy 1979 Post by: quodlibet (Ian) on August 28, 2009, 02:14:23 PM We were camped this year at the farthest extremity of field 7C & I pointed out to number one son; "over there, that's where the Farewell concert was held in '79". It was in field 7D adjacent to the canal. As was, if I remember correctly, the following year's "reunion".

There was a pigsty in it too! :o Title: Re: Cropredy 1979 Post by: PLW (Peter) on August 28, 2009, 02:51:28 PM We were camped this year at the farthest extremity of field 7C & I pointed out to number one son; "over there, that's where the Farewell concert was held in '79".
