Just back from the show in Mannheim and I thought it was really good! If you can, go and see it, it`s worth it  ;D

We saw the show in Kaltenberg last year - it rained cats and dogs.
So we just had to get tickets for Zurich on 21st Jan - it indoors this time  ;D

Is this ever going to play in the UK?

I'm not quite sure who the audience would be tbh.....can't think it would be economical.  Would like to be proven wrong, mind.

I went the following evening. Beautiful sunshine. Magical night.

I find the ticket price, combined with travel costs, too much this time - a decent view costs over £80....

It is expensive. No doubt about that, but you see, down here, we cut down on some other things and treat ourselves to some luxury in order to shorten the time till Cropredy.

Up north we had a lot of snow, so the drive from Bremen to Mannheim was 10 hours - instead of 6. And the weather forecast says: A lot of snow for the weekend.
The trucks with the stage and all the techs and roadies drive through the night.

According to the weather forecast it will be far more than nasty weather during the weekend.
Heavy snowfalls - up to 50 cm  - are predicted starting Friday noon, >:( accomanpied by gusts of wind and consequently snow banks.
I am surely not applying to change with the truck drivers.

There was snow everywhere in the south when I left this morning and more snowfall is forecast for the region for the weekend.
Was still worth going though =)

I saw the show in Munich yesterday and it was quite good.
Simon's voice sounded good, Chris Leslie  seems to have caught the bug now, his
voice was not as good as usually. But he played perfectly, of course.

Surprise for me was Johnny Logan, who sang really good, and impressed my boys      
(15 and 16).

They know of course that they have to be impressed more by the members of Fairport...

I'm afraid that I am with Chris on this one, I would have loved to have seen the show in either Hannover or Frankfurt, but the ticket price, airfares, taxi and hotel costs for 2 or 3 of us is just not in the realms of the do-able at this time.  I am really miffed :'(

Pugwash missed them in Munich by a couple of days!!

It was a very good night in Stuttgart. Nice audience, 2 encores.
Now I´m looking forward to Frankfurt on Saturday.

Great show in Zurich yesterday evening.
We saw it the second time (after Kaltenberg last year) and not being wet wasn't the only difference.
All artists performing impressively tight.
The "house band" really holding the whole thing together and pushing it at the same time.  
J Logan sang his socks off but giving you - positive - shivers were Simon, Chris and J McShee.
Voices in great form.

Thank you for a wonderful show.

(only drawback was the (Swiss) audience, which seemed a bit restrained )

I'd be interested to hear what people make of Corvus Corax...?  

In the Munich show of Excalibur they were impressive to look at, but not too
much was heard of them, unfortunately.
When leaving the concert hall I heard some people talking about them, they seemed to be fans and were quite disappointed, that there wasn't more of them in the show.
But I think that was part of the marketing concept to get a lot of names on the posters and a lot of fans to buy tickets.
It definitely worked for the Fairport fan writing here, but honestly I think the show wouldn't have suffered if there had been no Alan Parsons or no BJH (sorry I am too lazy to look up the name).

You mean Les Holroyd and you are right, he can´t sing anymore. On Saturday I left the venue during his second song because I could not stand it any longer to hear him trying to hit the notes.

The Corvus Corvax have a very faithful following.

The band played at the after show party on Saturday till 3 in the morning and we danced and had a lot of fun. I think that Peggy will book them for Cropredy.

I do hope so...!

I really like his song on the Anne De Bretagne album. It is my favourite track on the record.

Admittedly though he was all over the place during the ADB & Excalibur shows last summer.

He was worse at Kaltenberg last year.
In Zurich he succeeded hitting the notes about half the time.

Corvus Corax though they would be great at Cropredy - lets say Thursday evening ?
Imagine their version of Carmina Burana - now, that would be something for a change, wouldn't it ?

Done right, it could attract audiences similar in size to Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Riverdance.  That's nothing to sneeze at - they play in Peoria as well as New York and L.A.

I'm really sorry but I was happier with the Earth, Wind & Fire than I was with the recording of this show.  It just doesn't work for me   :-[

So was it the quality of the recording? or the show itself?
The plagiarism issue aside, there were some very enjoyable moments ... interspersed with a whold lot of "I wish they'd stop talking in a foreign language and get back to playing music" moments.

The language is not foreign to us here in Germany  ;)

Errr ... yes ... well ... at least with the recording one can skip past those bits.

Oh I wasn't talking about the recording quality, Bob...  Nope, I'm afraid the music does almost next to nothing for me.  In fact, if forced, I'd go so far as to say i actively disliked a fair bit of it...!

The Earth Wind & Fire tune Bob is thinking of is called "Fantasy" which I think kind of sits rather well with the fantasitical Arthurian legends

Now you've piqued my curiosity ... Are you implying that they had permission to use the tune? It would seem to me that the song would be credited to more than "Johnny Logan" if so ...  Seems to be a very blatant case of plagiarism otherwise.

I don't think it should be credited to Johnny Logan anyway. He sang it but surely Alan Simon and James Wood wrote it (or Maurice White, depending on how you look at it).

Yes, you're right. Now that you mention it, that page I linked to is probably showing the performers of each song rather than the writers.
