Title: Projects
Post by: Ollie on October 07, 2009, 11:36:50 PM
Hi Kevin

Thanks for agreeing to answer our questions.  :)

Out of all the various projects you have involved in over the years, which have you got the most enjoyment out of and which have been the most rewarding? Also, is there anyone you would like to work with, but have not had the opportunity to do so, and why?

Cheers
Ollie

Hi Ollie,
it's no problem to answer, I'm delighted to have been asked.
Well there's a question! To start with the obvious ones. Whippersnapper in full swing was fantastic. Dando Shaft was wonderfull, inventive,  heartfelt and original. Playing with Joe Broughton is fantastic, energy and suprises, humour and musicallity and a lot of technique. Also when I was in LA i played for 18 monthes with a latin american band, 'Los Bohemios' with guys from Guatamala, El Salvador, Mexico and California, my god that was a phenomenal experience. I played drums in my early years in a couple of soul bands, The Soul Express and the Boll Weevils, and loved that also.
I have a bit of a fantasy about playing with Abida Parveen, a pakistani  singer who I absolutely love, check out 'Songs of the Mystics' but I can't really see that happening. On a more realistic level I would love to play with Andy Irvine, we played together at a concert in Germany way back in 1990, and both really enjoyed it. Andy went on to form East Wind, and asked me to join but my commitments to Whippersnapper at the time prevented that fron happening, so............
Also I would loved to have played with Donny Hathaway, but unfotunately hs died.
Did the why refer to not having the opportunity or why I wanted to work with them?

Cheers Ollie
