Title: Visits to the US Post by: Jo Robinson on October 15, 2009, 01:05:37 AM Hello, Kevin!
My daughter and I very much enjoyed your visit to Columbus, Ohio, back in the winter of 2006 with Tanna, and I was wondering whether you had any plans to make it back this way again. :) I still listen to the CD you made with Chris Leslie, "Always With You." What a marvelous collections of songs and tunes to wind down a hectic day! :) Regards, Jo Title: Re: Visits to the US Post by: kevin dempsey on October 15, 2009, 05:50:42 PM Hi Jo,
thanks for writing. There you go, Tanna, what a lovely little band that is. I think we will be gigging next year, wether we make it back to America or not I'm not sure. I got back from gigging in the states a couple of weeks ago and while I was there was hoping to get to columbus, but didn't quite make it. The closest I got was Oxford, Ohio. What a beautiful town that is! I'm glad you are still listening to 'Always With You'. I am really fond of that album. A lot of people, including Mike Harding himself, have told me that it's one of their favourite albums. Whatever, I'll be back next year, so I'll look out for you best wishes kevin Title: Re: Visits to the US Post by: Jo Robinson on October 16, 2009, 01:35:36 PM Thanks, Kevin! back in the seventies I lived for a few years in and aroung LA, in fact I was l living in a place called Ranch Shangrila out at Zuma beach, Malibu, when The Band, Levon Helm et al. came around and bought the place. We were just renting so we had to go, they turned it into Shangrila studios, and did some great recording there. Anyway when I left I didn't go back for a few years and for me it lost some of it's attraction, but since 2000 I've been back at least once a year, mostly with Tanna or Joe broughton. In 2004 I went as part of the Mary Black Band and this year I went with myself. I did some gigs with a young Female fiddle player and singer, Rosie Carson, from Cincinnati. In fact we recorded an album together in Newport. Kentucky, which should be relaeased just before Xmas. It's called 'The Salty Diamond' What I'm blathering on about is that I love going over there now. So I hope to back in Columbus, next year and if you make the gig please come over and say hello, kev (my god what a reply) |
