Title: The Kevin Dempsey All-Stars Post by: Barry on October 15, 2009, 12:35:51 PM Hi Kevin
Given the list of those you've already played with and some of your earlier answers, this could be a tricky one ;) You are taking The Kevin Dempsey All-Stars on the road ... who would be in it - you can have absolutely anyone! Cheers Barry Title: Re: The Kevin Dempsey All-Stars Post by: kevin dempsey on October 15, 2009, 05:33:16 PM Hi Barry,
yes tricky indeed! I would have Joe Broughton on fiddle, mandolin as well as a bit of guitar and keyboard. Stevie wonder on harmonica, keyboard and backing vocals (what a cheek!!). Zakir Hussain on percussion, Steve Gadd on drums, Danny Thompson on double bass, Keith Jarrett on acoustic piano my good friend Paul Dunmall on saxes and pipes, Roswell Rudd on trombone, and Donny Hathaway, Aretha Franklin and Polly Bolton joining Stevie on back ups. If you could sort that out for me Barry, next autumn would be good for me. Thanks for the chance to have a little fantasy kev Title: Re: The Kevin Dempsey All-Stars Post by: Barry on October 15, 2009, 07:04:12 PM I'll do me best, Kevin .... I quite fancy seing that myself! ;D

I think Roswell Rudd does alot of teaching, have you ever worked with another great American trombonist, Ray Anderson? Or any AACM guys? I figure in that you have worked with the late Alice Coltrane, it is conceivable your paths could have crossed to her artistic relatives within the AACM.

I first came across Roswell, playing on the 'Charlie Hayden Liberation Music Orchestra'. What a fantastic album! Unfotunately never worked with or got to know any of the AACM guys. Alice, what a precence.......... kevin |
