Some very nice pictures from the 70s of Simon and Peggy - especilly on the back of the outer bag! I didn’t realise the prog scene was so revitalised. Flicking through it and listening to the CD, I was struck by one encouraging feature: the presence of women as performers and fans. My memories of prog from the early seventies are of something seriously blokeish. Ex-public schoolboys making music for schoolboys like me and my older student brothers – a hopeless way of meeting girls.

But then again, how many other people in the world would get excited about a Comus spread?! As for the CD, I'm afraid I found most of it pretty samey and of a not particularly high standard. That Mostly Autumn / Magenta ish sound does very little for me, I'm afraid....although the Porcupine Tree-ish type of stuff is much more interesting.

Being blind as a bat I didn't see the price on the cover, and I was running for a train, so just dumped it on the counter. EIGHT QUID!!! Never again. For that price I'd want Sonja Kristina to come round and make the tea. It's (damn nearly) twice the price of any comparable magazine. And tbh, I don't reckon they are that cheap. But I suppose if one views is at a sort of 'fanzine' one starts to look at it a bit differently... A lot of new interviews and decent archive pics keep the interest up, Well put together. Knitting with Hendrix, I love it!

Lovely review of Jude's album, and a nice bit on fairport. I haven't had time to listen to the CD yet though. Paul |
