What i'd like to ask is about the early Eighties when its said that you felt you'd lost direction with your music and "gave it up" for a while. Was that a reflection of the times as well as yourself? - for me the early 80's was a barren time musically with but a few gems emerging.

People say they had a hard time finding decent music, but that wasn't my experience. Maybe you didn't look hard enough! I've never seen a decade where I wasn't gobsmacked by music.
My temporary retirement was completely self imposed and all about how I felt, about what I was doing. I don't think one ever understands burnout, until we step back and look at the feelings it brings up. I have to say, maybe more musicians should consider it, rather than plowing on through, making average statements. |
