Title: Sandy FA Cup
Post by: Andy Tuck on July 21, 2010, 03:20:17 PM
To provide the 4th Team for the Champions League here's the draw.

North Star Grassman & The Ravens v Fotheringay
All Our Own Work v Rendezvous
Gold Dust v Fotheringay 2
Like an Old Fashioned Waltz v Sandy

Not how I'd wished the first round would come out, but it was a genuine draw.

Closes 7pm tomorrow (Thursday)

The last one is a devil! I think John The Gun just taps in for a winner.

Like an Old Fashioned Waltz v Sandy - What a draw - my two favourites meet up in the first round!  This one went to penalties & Sandy wins thanks to the stronger selection of bonus tracks on the remastered CDs.

while the last one is, undoubtedly a devil, John the Gun shouldn't have been on the pitch as he can be found on the North Star Grassman.

One match gone to a recount, will post next round asap.

Also, last entry after final whistle went, but don't think it will make a difference.

No, it was an extended period of injury time due to excessive behaviour from the Welsh striker, John the Gun.

As suspected what would have made a great final was very close. I counted draws as 0-0.

All Our Own Work v Rendezvous 1-21
Gold Dust v Fotheringay 2 10-13

As the referee for this one I've decided to step in now to stop further punishment on two of the teams. When I drew the semis I thought it looked a bit pointless.

So the final is:

It came down to how many songs from each would I put on my personal best of Sandy compilation. That turned out to be three in both cases so I had figure out which of those was my absolute favourite. JTG seems stirring and indestructible in any performance of it I have ever heard so that was the clincher for me.

With me that'd be 2 from North Star - Late November and Blackwaterside; and 4 from Sandy - It'll Take A Long Time, Sweet Rosemary, Listen Listen and It Suits Me Well.
