Title: Burning Bright - The Ashley Hutchings Story Post by: Jamie73 on August 20, 2010, 04:47:05 PM Hey there
I don't own this box, but it claims to have an outttake of Fairport from 1968/69 doing "She Moves Through The Fair". Can anyone confirm what this version is? many thanks! Jamie Title: Re: Burning Bright - The Ashley Hutchings Story Post by: davidmjs on August 20, 2010, 04:55:19 PM Hi Jamie
Apart from clarifying that it's 1969 rather than '68, haven't you already answered your own question?! As far as I'm aware (although expect someone to correct this any second now!) this version isn't released elsewhere. Its a decent box in its own way, although like all the Free Reed ones (imho) deeply flawed. I just don't think the thematic approach works. And there are some quite shocking sound level differences between different tracks from different eras on some of the CDs. Thanks again J Title: Re: Burning Bright - The Ashley Hutchings Story Post by: Brett on August 20, 2010, 10:15:02 PM It's a L&L-era live version which the notes say come from Ashley's archives. The booklet says it's from 1968, but the CD box says 1969-- otherwise, no clue as to where/when it was recorded (it does sound live though, not BBC). It's quite lovely though, if a bit dodgy soundwise.
