Hmm, will I have enough money in December, what with the looming spectre of Christmas...

With current interest rates, provided you've got the free cash, its a good idea.

Prices, conceivably, but I reckon it's a bit of strech to expect line-ups this early.

I'm by no means convinced that I'll be able to afford to attend at all.

December 1st. That also happens to be the same day Charlie McDonnell's album comes out! (I know you probably don't know who he is, but trust me, it's exciting!)

I don't know for sure, but I reckon it's a safe bet that FC will be involved in some shape or form.   ;D

AFAIK there's one band definitely booked, an act from France that Peggy likes.

We'll have fkall money in December anyhow, so it's moot.

Assuming a ticket price of £80, the net-of-VAT price is £68.09, and 20% VAT for 2011 = £81.70.

Unless there is an early-bird discount thrown in, you'll save the princely sum of £1.70 on an £80 ticket!

£80 in the bank for six months at ,say, 1.5% interest less 20% tax = a measly £0.48p.

Invest in Cropredy - you know it makes sense!

Caution - this statement is not authorised by the FSA!!!  ;D

Au Contraire, most insurance seems only to cover virtually impossible eventualities, like stuff being nicked from inside locked rooms guarded by rural police constables. If you put something down and somebody walks off with it, you are buggered.

I suspect the premium would be the cost of a further ticket anyway....or more, possibly.

If we're assuming things, let's assume that they hold the ticket price at a nice round eighty quid and absorb the ballpark £1.70 themselves when the rate goes up in the new year. If 2,000 people take them up on the offer, that's about £3,400 both in the bank and saved against future costs. It's fuzzy maths, but what I like to call 'making things up' has never been an exact science...  ::)

So it would be stupid to insure against stupidity ;D

You CAN insure against your own stupidity, or even against your own wilful negligence if my experience over the last five years is anything to go by >:(

I can't justify buying a ticket in December, money will run out next year and unless I secure an income there will be no Cropredy for me.

Buying on credit card gives free insurance , and so the premium cant go up. ;D

Will anyone pay £70 just for Saturday, I wonder?....

Also, in the blurb, it states that pre-VAT rise tickets are available until 14 December, but the price list shows Pre-Jan 1 date for those prices. I wonder whether you can order right up until Jan 1, but you must order by Dec 14 to receive tickets in time for Christmas?

I reckon the latter, personally, but it isn't clear.

£85 Jim, the year before was £78, and the year before that was £72. Still, tickets have reached 3 figures. Camping has also gone up a fiver.

I'm inclined to agree with David. Not sure we can afford £215 for the weekend for the two of us.  :-\

Assume 2 people x 3 days x five beers per day @ £3 per pint = £90
ditto re barn brekkies 2 x 3 x £4 = £24
ditto re two meals a day/night 2 x 2 x 3 x £6 = £72
One night at Bloxham to avoid rush hour traffic coming up from Hants = £14 (beer and evening meal not counted)

Grand Total = £200 plus tickets = £415

Mmmm.....

I'm going to say, thanks, but no thanks.  And then probably go to another festival which will cost me more.... ;D

For me, for once, it really will depend on the lineup.  Like everybody else I'll be there in 2012, but it will need to really surprise me to get me along there this year.

Hmmmm, difficult one for me, I don’t know what will be happening work wise after June next year, so it will be a late decision whether to go or not.

Personally there is also another factor to take into consideration, there’s another festival 60+ miles closer & for not much more than a top price Saturday only ticket I have the choice of 5 stages & nearly 50 bands!!

The only downside is I won't get to see all you lovely people!!! ;D

Assume 2 people x 3 days x five beers per day @ £3 per pint = £90

Take your own beer Malcolm that'll save £60. I must say I love that Cropredy allow that - some festivals make you feel like a criminal and frisk you on entry just so they can rip you off once you get in.

Long live Cropredy!

And when your parents, Brothers, Sisters or the kids ask 'what do you want for Christmas'?, rather than the novelty Sweater, undrinkable Wine, Gift Token etc, just ask for Croppers Camping Ticket, £35.00 Saved straight off (maybe even Full tickets if you are very lucky).
Tell them what you would REALLY like from Santa and get them in time for Christmas and save £3.80 (thats a little over a pint).

I live near IoW festival site ....

£175 for a camping ticket in 2011
You get frisked every time you go to the main arena (This can be fun :P) But you DO get good at smuggling
its a mile walk with all your camping gear from car to camping area's
Its over a mile walk from majority of camping area's to main arena
The toilets are appalling ( Overflowing bogs from day one)
80.000 people No Cropredy breakfasts and the local pubs still stop serving food at 09.30 AND NO WADSWORTHS
They virtually close the main Island Road to Newport for hte whole week many Islanders hate it

It makes Croppers look a veritable gift
good local rapport... and there are some great pubs serving great food
camp with friends near your car easy access to main arena
drink your booze , any one elses booze or buy from the freindliest biggest outdoor bar
Good site coordination and apart from a few hours the road system works
and its a freindly festival ( if you want frisking i'm sure someone will do it) ::)
Not just a commercial opportunity... The costs are overall considerably lower

I am sticking with croppers but I will get the ticket in January /February [;-) {:-)

The prices look pretty comparable to other festivals - eg Shrewsbury (where the camping appears to be charged per person).

One thing Shrewsbury offers which Cropredy might consider in future is a family ticket (2 adults and two "youths").

Whichever way you look at it, a festival is always an expensive weekend!
