Title: Barnstones or Anita's? Post by: Nick the Stick on March 03, 2011, 06:18:50 PM Ah well, here we go. We've always done Barnstones, great pre-festival atmosphere, breakfast, loads of people to talk to etc.
Then Mr B had his op so we went to Anita's that year and for some reason the next. Everyone else seemed to do the same thing. Last year we went back to Barnstones (better showers, sense of loyalty) and it was VERY quiet. The Mc B's seem to have stayed at Anita's, so none of their antics to watch and/or join in with, we did chat to a few people but basically it was too quiet for us (we love noise and stuff happening). Going back on the sunday it was as dead as a dodo, but when venturing into Banbury for the post-Crop curry, the usual crowd were also there, so we caught up but couldn't really find out why the shift. Anyone got any thoughts? Title: Re: Barnstones or Anita's? Post by: Chris on March 03, 2011, 11:31:14 PM David Boddington has had a hip replacement or two now, i think, and he doesnt feel able to allow the village to do their campsite breakfasts at the moment. Re the McB's, i theyve stayed just because its easier.

It's quiet and friendly. We did notice it was much busier last year than normal with a huge crowd (Mc Bs?). who arrived quite late Wednesday night, erected a giant flagpole, Had a large communal meal, went to bed and were gone with the moon in the morning. We also had some of the Festival crew camped next to us. Lovely lads! As we are quite happy to camp on field 7, Anita's is very convenient for getting in to Cropredy Thursday morning. Title: Re: Barnstones or Anita's? Post by: Bridgwit (Bridget) on March 04, 2011, 12:11:52 PM We've stayed at Anita's on the Wednesday night for the last 3 (or even 4?) years. We love it, it's a cracking site, and there's a decent pub (which sadly no longer serves food) about 5 mins walk away. We can get the fridge really cold, the battery on the van well charged, a few/lot of relaxing drinks, a decent night's sleep and then a hot shower in the morning before we leave for the festival proper at 8ish in the morning. Jobs a good 'un :)
It's become part of our ritual now, along with boiled eggs, toast and cyder for breakfast as soon as we get to the festival site on the Thursday morning 8) , watching the real campers trying to put up their tents and realising you've only brought one wellie! Title: Re: Barnstones or Anita's? Post by: Chris on March 04, 2011, 12:23:31 PM Neither are.
Both the wrong side of the closure at the Plantation. Unless you're happy with Field 7, then it's a cinch. Title: Re: Barnstones or Anita's? Post by: Tasha on March 04, 2011, 01:30:16 PM Neither are. Title: Re: Barnstones or Anita's? Post by: Bridgwit (Bridget) on March 04, 2011, 01:55:32 PM We drive back into Banbury, over the motorway into Cropredy from the East so we get our preferred site. It's worked OK for us the last few years.
I'd actually prefer to be in field 7 but I like to be near my own loo :-[ (yes I know ::) ) Title: Re: Barnstones or Anita's? Post by: PLW (Peter) on March 04, 2011, 02:04:18 PM I really wish I knew what you were all talking about. Barnstone's? Anita's? Yer what?
