Title: Swarb 3-on-1 CD
Post by: fstix (Michael) on April 09, 2011, 03:47:44 PM
BGO Records have just recently reissued 3 of Swarb's solo albums - Swarbrick / Swarbrick 2 / Smiddyburn.

All on a "3 for 1" disc.

How is this possible?  I assume some tracks may have been omitted but it still looks too many for one CD.  Unless it's double sided...

It's on 2 CDs!

OK, that makes far more sense.  You'd  think the actual record company site would mention that rather than say "3 on 1".  Unless they're trying to say "3 for the price of 1".

Had this delivered today, obviously the first to load these versions on to itunes, as I've just spent ages typing and entering the tracks on to gracenotes. Just hope I haven't made any mistakes as they're not these easy track names for a dyslexic to type.

Now as soon as the footie finishes I can start listening to it.

I have Swarb 1 & 2 on one CD & I have Smiddyburn on another CD with Flittin'. I would have to know it was a much better sounding remaster (& that another set with Flittin' & two more albums was to follow) before I would consider it.

They could have got all four albums on the 2 CD set, but I guess that would reduce the potential return.

I have the Swarbrick/Swarbrick 2 and Smiddyburn/Flittin 2 on 1 sets. The final two tracks from side one of the vinyl version of Swarbrick are not on the 2 on 1 set, presumably because there wasn't room to fit all the tracks on 1 CD. I assume that by putting 3 albums rather than 4 across 2 CDs that all tracks are present and correct this time?

Smiddyburn was all present on the old 2 on 1 set but don't know about Swarbrick 2 and Flittin as don't have vinyl versions to compare.

Smiddyburn belongs with Flittin' as it's from the same sessions.  It seems wrong to partner it with Swarbrick 1 and 2.
